As Terry demonstrated for you

As Terry demonstrated for you - you don't need a big battery pack. You need a drive train powerful enough to climb the mountains - you need a battery pack big enough to go from one charging station to another - and you need an on-board charger fast enough to charge within an hour or two - and you need charging stations that can dish out the power quickly enough.
The last two points are toughest. Terry's advantage is that the motorcycle is light enough it can go a significant distance on a small pack that can be charged in an hour.
The more I think about it,

the more I think EVs will happen via motorcycles and PHEV. You're right in saying able to go form one charger to the next. That's the key.

So, ford is working to cut ties with Mazda...Sergio loves buying other brands and they dont have any japanese involvment right now. biggest competitor nissan/renault has an obviously strong foothold in the japanese market. I wonder if the Chrysler group might be getting a new adopted sibling?

Electric car not dead - cheaper Volt - Mark Reuss of GM
I heard someone at the show this week...

going on about how electric cars were just a fad and in 5 years, no one will be able to name an EV. I am as much into V8 powered vehicles as possible but I think that the "EVs are a fad" theory is pretty shortsighted.
I think so too... Reuss in

I think so too... Reuss in his speech said we're in a transition phase, and that transitions take a long time. The technology needs to improve a bit more but it will.
An example I keep thinking about is the electric motorcycle racing scene - where this year the top results of electric race teams matched or exceeded the lap times of the top gas bikes. Meaning that electric motorcycle racing has reached speed parity with gas bike racing, but not distance parity. It'll take at least one generation of battery energy density, and the electric race bikes will match the top gas bikes on both range and speed. An electric bike could then enter a gas bike race and win. It's just a few years away.
You don't need V8 monsters to get torque and speed. That's already true. Solving the range issue will happen within a few years.
