Funny, I have a 2014 Mazda6 and a 2013 VW Passat S in the driveway this week. You're right. The veedub is very comfortable, but has absolutely no frills to speak of where as the Mazda gets better mileage, goes faster (TURBO!) and is way more stylish. I still like the Passat in TDI, though. After a few more days in the driver's seat of this gas version, maybe it'll grow on me like the diesel did.
The already-gigantic Smyrna, Tennessee plant where many of Nissan's vehicles for the North American market are built is seeing another expansion, adding another 60,000 square feet to the nearly six million the facility already has.

Im always surprised that VWs sell as well as they do. Theyre the automotive equivalent of plain yogurt.
