It's MPGe not MPG .. electricity does not come by the gallon. MPGe is a way of equating electrical usage with gasoline usage to give a figure the people can more easily understand. So, 108 MPG is not the correct figure, 108 MPGe is. The press release said 'U.S. EPA-certified 108 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) in the city' ..

Well, yes, but ... first, the MPGe concept was invented by the EPA and is based on comparing the BTU content of fuels. You can argue this up and down and sideways, but it is the way the EPA is using to determine the numbers the car makers are using. Second, the Ford press release cited MPGe not MPG, so it's more accurate to cite MPGe in our reports of the numbers the automakers are telling us. It is inaccurate for our reports to say MPG when the automaker says MPGe.
