If it is cool with the team I will combine Ford's two press releases from this morning on the F150 into one story. Will overview the King Ranch and the base F150 and Ecoboost. I will wait a bit in case this is not cool with the team and I am being greedy
2000 miles through northern Cali and after camping for almost a week... well, let's just say a bed, a bath tub and more room besides a tent was great :)
they sent me an email, and it appeared to me to be a new thing. But I see that Nick published about this on a different writing venue a few weeks ago. Meaning, this isn't new enough to be news.
does a good job at stating available battery pack, 31.5 kWh and although they talk about EPA estimated 88 milers, they're quick to point out to the UDDS 133 mile, wqhich makes them say about 125 miles on average depending on driving habits, etc. I think we need to move away from quote epa ratings and that nonsense of MPGe. We just can't compared these cars to gasoline cars, period. Nissan is swallowing the humility pill. No humongous booth at AltCar Expo!
Uh.. I have a different stance on this. The EPA certification is supposed to be the metric we compare the vehicles with. If there's something wrong with the EPA certification, then that is what needs to be fixed.
When Coda says "125 miles" with an asterisk leading to the admission that this is not the EPA certification ... to me this looks bad. It looks like they're trying to amplify the advertised number to look better.
Their 125 miles range is at city street speeds (LA4 test cycle). Someone whose daily commute is 90 miles each way might see "125 miles range" and think the car will do what they need, but be surprised when the car barely does the commute. That's the difference between highway speed range and city street speed range. It takes more energy to go faster - this is based on physics because at higher speed the car is pushing more air out of the way.

Be sure to include claims by owners too. I've heard everything from 100 to 200 miles for a Leaf, for example, and in the thousands for Volt.

Uh..
The Volt owners I hear talk about thousands of miles, are discussing how many gasoline-free miles they have, not driving range per charge.
