Chevy/GMC still has a lot of disappointment in the longevity and durability of their products. Toyota can afford to rest on their laurels while fine-tuning their next Tacoma. As for drivetrain, the V6 as it is equipped in the 4RUNNER could be the key to a next step, in a more powerful non turbo'd engine, coupled with new transmissions. Fuel economy is not the end-all in trucks. Toyota's engineers aren't sitting in Barcaloungers waiting for new decals.
I am driving a 2007 Tacoma Access Cab I special ordered to get a SR5 with a 4 cylinder engine and 5 speed manual transmission.
I wanted factory black leather seats but not a option. It has been 8 years and very little changes. I for one don't like gray or tan at all.
After looking at what the GMC Canyon will offer I see it will offer more HP and better MPG at the same time. It also has the black leather seats I want.
It has about any option you could ever want.
I will probably buy a Canyon extended cab as I won't buy any thing 4 door..
It looks like Gm is coming back with better than any thing else like it on the market.
I like my 2014 Tacoma TRD but I DO NOT want a long relationship with her. She is always there for me but she does not have everything I need.
POSITIVES: She Is comfortable when I am on her seat and strapped on for an enjoyable ride. Her ability to provide various sounds when I push the right buttons is cool.
NEGATIVES: Difficulty in mounting and high operating cost because of her height and old power system
has become obvious. She functions with limited speeds but in her day she turned a lot of heads.
