In terms of what? fuel usage, or "carbon emissions"?
All of those studies about how much fuel a car burns at idle are a joke. We put about a gallon and a half of gas in my buddies 1995 sebring a couple years back and let it idle...it took over 18 hours for it to burn that little bit of gas. Also, my Hemi Ram idled for 12 hours last weekend so that the girls at the horse show had somewhere to go to get out of the 100+ degree heat between rides...and including towing a horse trailer an hour and a half down there, I still got 14mpg.
Okay I have no actual data on this but admit it has been a pet peeve of mine for years. At least I'll wager you're not fat, but most of the people in the drive through need to get out of the car and walk a lot more.
Nothing wrong running a car for AC when there's no other respite in sight in 100 degree weather. But you are befouling the air, like it or not.
As far as the hemi, I be surprised if it doesn't pollute even when it's not running... LOL!
Honestly, as truck engines go, I would say that the Hemi is among the best as far as fuel economy and efficiency...my truck is lightly modified but I get better mileage than any of the new trucks advertise...with the exception of the newer base V6s...but I also have 400hp where they do not...
Idling vehicles waste gas and befoul the atmosphere

Five minutes of idling the same as one minute of driving. Ever seen the lines at the Taco Bell drive up? No wonder America is getting obese.
Don, five minutes of idling equals one minute of driving?
