At first glance, we note the arrival AMG E63's new Panamericana grille, present on most models in the range. This is accompanied by two large air intakes installed just below, as well as slightly redesigned optics. In addition, the 2021 Mercedes AMG E63 has been widened by 27 millimeters, while the rear benefits from a new pencil stroke at the level of the lights and the rear bumper. This also accommodates slightly revised tailpipes as well. Inside, this new Mercedes-AMG E 63 has a brand new presentation, identical to that of the brand's latest productions, with its touch screen and digital handset ranging from 10.25 to 12.25 inches depending on the finish. The infotainment system MBUX is present, while details specific to this AMG version complete the package.
Up To 612 Horsepower
Under the hood of this 2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S, (S stands for Sedan) there is no big surprise, since we find the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that we already know well, claiming the trifle of 612 horses for a maximum torque of up to 850 Nm. The 2021 E63 S marks an unexpected truce in the race for power. The performances are therefore logically still as good, with a 0 to 60 mph respectively shot in 3.4 and 3.5 seconds for the sedan and the station wagon. For its part, the entry-level version develops some 571 horsepower for 750 Nm of torque, for a 0 to 100 mph requiring only a tenth of an additional second each time.
The V8 engine is here mated to a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT transmission, sending power to all four wheels, via the 4Matic + all-wheel drive. Note that several driving modes are available, including Drift Mode, transforming the car into pure propulsion, just to have a little more fun. A firm grip of the road is ensured, among other things.
Interior
Inside, the 2021 E63 S finally inherits the MBUX multimedia system which allows you to activate a variety of features with a simple voice command "hello Mercedes." A new steering wheel incorporating both redesigned ergonomics and the famous drive mode adjustment buttons - such as found in the AMG GLB 35 SUV - is also part of the new improvements made to the car.
There is a new steering wheel in the interior that no other model has ever received. The controls for the Distronic are now directly on the steering wheel and no longer on a separate lever behind the steering wheel. For the basic E-Class there is either a standard steering wheel with two closed switch strips without protruding buttons or an AMG sports steering wheel with two horizontal struts (standard for E63).
The E-Class again offers sustainable seat covers such as fabric and the high-quality Artico leatherette. While the E53 AMG still comes with the sensible mix of Artico / Dinamica microfiber, animal skin is standard for the E63. E53 and E63 come with sports seats that are suitable for everyday use, a performance seat is optionally available, but this entails a loss of comfort.
As usual, you sit very comfortably in the E-Class and there is plenty of space for four tall adults.
Like the outgoing model, the restyled E 63 S comes standard with AMG Ride Control + suspension with adaptive multi-chamber air damping that offers several different settings; Comfort, Sport and Sport+ and even Race. Mercedes prides itself on having improved comfort without losing any dynamism.
Direct rival of the BMW M5 and other Audi RS7, the new Mercedes-AMG E 63 is a capable large family roadster. High-level comfort, refinement and presentation are even more refined than on board a conventional E-Class. AMG badge requires (there are aluminum inserts) a few carbon touches, leather spread everywhere and very little visible plastics. Simply, you have to get used to the all-digital that has invaded the cabin.
The Drive
The 2021 AMG E63 is tall, practical, and incredibly fast. Even if many are talking about electric cars and plug-in hybrids - the new Mercedes-AMG E 63 s T does not want to have anything to do with such drive gimmicks even after the E-Class facelift.
With its tremendous power, excellent engine and fine air suspension, the Mercedes AMG E 63 S is still great on long journeys. Not as casual as a luxury limousine from the class above, but always ideal for long journeys at high speed. After the revision, this is mainly due to an increase in comfort in normal mode. As is the case with the E-Class the combination of suspension and damping in this vehicle is more sensitive, more confident and simply better coordinated. If you want to be a bit harder on the road, you can sharpen it in the driving program at any time.
The V8 biturbo is constantly pushing forward, and it seems there is no end to it. And paired with the excellent noise insulation and the stable road holding, you will be amazed when you feel as if you are standing still on the motorway at very high speeds. The E63 conveys a different feeling of speed because the vehicle acts so confidently. The steering is direct and natural, the operation via the new, small and beefy steering wheel is pleasant and sporty. The standard AMG air suspension now offers a greater range between comfort and sportiness, so it is significantly more comfortable, especially in Comfort mode. The consumption of the V8 is always very high, so you can hardly drive it economically.
In general, the Mercedes E-Class is still one of the quietest and most comfortable vehicles.

Conclusion
The Mercedes E-Class facelift brings a sportier look, especially for the AMG-Line and Avantgarde-Line. At the rear in particular, the new lights make the E-Class sleeker, even as a sedan. As a top model, the E63 has also become even more concise. In the interior, the introduction of the current infotainment system is important and useful. In terms of driving behavior, in contrast to the quiet and very comfortable basic models, the E63 is of course much sportier, but thanks to the upgrades to the air suspension it creates a better balancing act between comfort and sportiness. Especially at high speeds you can feel that the E63 conveys a different feeling for speed: Even high speeds feel as if hardly anything is happening.
By the way, the restyled Mercedes-AMG E 63 S has also passed into the hands of the German tuner Brabus, who now offers it in 800 horsepower version. it's called Brabus 800. Aesthetically, Brabus has equipped this E 63 S with many carbon fiber elements, which can be found at the front on the air intakes of the shield as well as the lower blade, but also at the rear on the spoiler, as well as the extractor, accompanied by a quadruple carbon exhaust outlet. The stainless steel exhaust line also has active valves that release the sound of the V8, with several more or less discreet modes selectable by the driver.
As several reviewers have noted, I think the AMG E 63 S will probably be the last of its kind, without at least supporting electrification, the high-performance athletes in the upper class will no longer work in the future.
