Earlier this week, we took a close look at the engines and power levels of the 2020 Dodge Challenger across the entire lineup. In that piece, we mentioned that there are four engines and two transmissions, but in reality, there are actually two different manual transmissions and four different automatic transmissions. Frankly, this information might not make much sense to some people, but to those folks who want to know about every detail of the 2020 Challenger, here is a look at the specific transmission options and rear gear ratios for each trim level.
2020 Dodge Challenger Manual Transmissions
Since there are fewer manual transmissions, we will start with them and finish up with the automatic options. The 2020 Dodge Challenger V6 models are not available with a manual transmission, so the first model to sport the 6-speed manual transmission is the Challenger R/T, which shares a manual gearbox with the R/T Scat Pack, the Shaker models and the T/A models – both of which come with either of the V8 engines.
In the Challenger R/T and R/T Scat Pack, a Tremec TR-6060 6-speed manual transmission is standard. That transmission is mated to both the 5.7-liter and 6.4-liter Hemi and in both of those applications, a ZF-Sachs 240-millimeter twin disc clutch helps move the power to the wheels. Out back, every Challenger with this 6-speed manual come from the factory with a 3.90 ratio asymmetric limited-slip, performance-tuned rear differential. Individual gear ratios are as follows.

2nd 2.10
3rd 1.46
4th 1.00
5th 0.74
6th 0.50
Reverse 2.90
The only other 2020 Dodge Challenger that comes with the manual transmission is the SRT Hellcat and in this supercharged muscle car, the three-pedal package is standard. The manual transmission behind the Hellcat Hemi features a ZF-Sachs 258-millimeter twin-disc clutch is employed, as is a 3.70 ratio asymmetric limited-slip, performance-tuned rear differential. Individual gear ratios are as follows.

2nd 1.58
3rd 1.19

2020 Dodge Challenger Automatic Transmissions
There are four automatic transmissions used in the 2020 Dodge Challenger lineup – one for the rear-drive V6, one for the all-wheel-drive V6, one for the naturally aspirated Hemi and one for the supercharged Hemi.
The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 in the 2020 Dodge Challenger SXT and GT comes with a TorqueFlite ZF 8HP50 8-speed automatic transmission, with a 2.62 gear ratio coming standard while a 3.08 is optional. Individual gear ratios are as follows.
1st 4.71
2nd 3.14
3rd 2.10
4th 1.67
5th 1.29
6th 1.00
7th 0.84

Next up, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 in the 2020 Dodge Challenger SXT AWD or GT AWD is mated to a TorqueFlite 850RE 8-speed transmission, which is a variation of the 8HP50 that is built by FCA. A 3.08 rear gear is standard with all of the all-wheel-drive Challengers for 2020. Individual gear ratios are as follows.
1st 4.71
2nd 3.14
3rd 2.10
4th 1.67
5th 1.29
6th 1.00
7th 0.84
8th 0.67

The TorqueFlite ZF 8HP70 8-speed automatic transmission is used in all of the 2020 Dodge Challenger models that come with either the 5.7-liter of 6.4-liter Hemi V8. This includes the R/T, R/T Scat Pack, both T/A models, both Shaker models and the 1320. Depending on the trim level, the 8HP70 is mated to either a 3.08 (5.7-liter) or 3.09 (6.4-liter standard, option with the 5.7-liter). Individual gear ratios are as follows.
1st 4.71
2nd 3.14
3rd 2.11
4th 1.67
5th 1.29
6th 1.00
7th 0.84
8th 0.67

Finally, the TorqueFlite ZF 8HP90 8-speed automatic transmission is optional in the 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and it is standard in the Hellcat Redeye models. In the 717-horsepower Hellcat, this transmission is mated to a 2.62 ratio asymmetric limited-slip, performance-tuned differential while the 797-horsepower Redeye can be ordered with the 2.62 or a 3.09 ratio asymmetric limited-slip, performance-tuned rear differential. Individual gear ratios are as follows.
1st 4.71
2nd 3.14
3rd 2.10
4th 1.67
5th 1.29
6th 1.00

I thought the 2.62 axle ratio

I thought the 2.62 axle ratio was standard with the 5.7L Hemi. So has that changed for 2020? If so that is a good thing. The 5.7L with the 3.08 would be a nice combination for low end acceleration without having to drop an extra $4K for a Scat Pack.
