For the last seven baseball seasons, Chevrolet has sponsored the large fountain in the center field of the Detroit Tigers’ Comerica Park and for the start of the 2016 MLB season, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro and the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado will adorn the huge display. In addition to the branding, the vehicles and the fountain, the Chevrolet Fountain has a speaker system that plays a Tiger’s roar every time the home team hits a home run.
“Chevrolet continues to enjoy a long-standing relationship with the Detroit Tigers,” said Paul Edwards, vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. “By putting Chevrolet power and performance on display in center field, we hope to inspire our fans and our home team with a winning season.”
A Lengthy Process
The new Camaro and Colorado were both lifted on specially constructed platforms by a crane onto the upper corners of the Chevrolet Fountain. The work of lifting the car and truck into place, and then making sure that they are both safely secured in place, takes the crew about three hours.
Once in place, the Camaro and Colorado are on clear display for pretty much everyone in the stadium, as well as to folks passing by the stadium on the outside. Also, with the Camaro and Colorado located straight away in center field, the two vehicles get lots of TV time behind the pitcher and whenever the ball is hit into center field. As a result, this product placement gives these popular Chevy products a tremendous amount of exposure to baseball fans – many of whom are in the target market for both the Camaro and the Colorado.
“Last year, we were able to showcase our vehicles to nearly 3 million Tigers’ fans at Comerica Park and even more watching from home,” Edwards said. “We hope the Camaro RS and Colorado help stir the same emotions our home team does when they hit one out of the park.”
The vehicles on display include a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT coupe with the RS package in Hyper Blue Metallic while the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado is a Z71 Trail Boss Edition in Inferno Orange.
