Ride Along with the 2017 Camaro ZL1 at the Milford Proving Grounds

I should start by saying that I find it a little bit odd that this video of the 2017 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 lapping the GM Milford Proving Grounds road course is not posted on an official GM YouTube channel. Chevrolet and Chevrolet Performance both have active YouTube channels, but there is no sign of the ZL1 test video on either of those pages, nor does there seem to be any mention of this video on The Block – the official Chevrolet Performance blog website.

However, based on what I can see and hear in this video – and with other coverage from dedicated Camaro authorities – I believe that this is, indeed, the 2017 Camaro ZL1 as captured from the Performance Data Recorder. Also, based on the track map at the upper left corner of the screen, this is definitely the Milford road course.

Camaro ZL1 Working Out at Home
All of the General Motors high performance vehicles spend copious amounts of time blasting around the different surfaces at the Milford, Michigan Proving Grounds, so for every Camaro, Milford is kind of their home track. This video shows the 6th gen Camaro ZL1 tearing around the MPG road course, and while we don’t see the entire lap – and we don’t see what kind of lap time the new supercharged Camaro lays down – we see enough to enjoy the video.

Although the video was seemingly uploaded in very low quality, this Camaro ZL1 clip gives us a great chance to see how quickly the new Chevy muscle car hustles through the turns and blasts down the straightaways – with speeds climbing over 140 miles per hour.

As you watch the video, take note of the track map at the upper left to see what the turns look like as the Camaro ZL1 approaches them. The Camaro is able to get slowed in a hurry as it enters tighter turns and accelerate very hard, reaching awesome speeds through a handful of sections.

Now, we just need to see the video of the new Camaro ZL1 at the Nürburgring to learn just how nasty the new supercharged muscle car is on the world’s most difficult road course.
