Ford is introducing a special edition of its Fiesta subcompact hatchback in Europe called the Fiesta Sport Special Edition. Commemorating 35 years of the Fiesta nameplate, Ford is adding some extra sporty styling goodies - and a few more horsepower - to the Fiesta Sport +, which was launched in the United Kingdom and Germany earlier this year.
The Ford Fiesta Sport Special Edition will be powered by either a 1.6L Ti-VCT gasoline engine making about 130hp, giving it the highest horsepower of any Fiesta in the lineup. The other alternative is a 94hp DuraTorq diesel engine that can achieve up to 57mpg. The gasoline-powered Fiesta Sport Special Edition is rumored to be able to hit 60mph in 8.7 seconds and go onto a top speed of 122mph.
The Ford Fiesta Sport Special Edition will feature a complete styling kit, with lowered side skirts, a front chin spoiler and rear wing atop the hatchback. Other styling enhancements will be a front grill with a silver surround, and polished twin exhaust outlets. The Fiesta Sport Special Edition will only be available in a 3-door hatchback body style.
Several color options will be available, including Panther Black to match the wheels, and the front sport seats will be heated and upholstered in black leather with silver stitching. The sound system will be a six-speaker stereo with a USB port for auxilary audio devices.
The Ford Fiesta Sport Special Edition will only be available in Europe, with no word yet as to US availability. Pricing has yet to be announced.
