Gran Turismo6 is one of the most-anticipated race driving simulation video games on the planet. The Sony Computer Entertainment game is also the source of Nissan's GT Academy, which scours the gaming community for top players in hopes of turning them into top-notch race car drivers in real life. So far, the idea has been pretty successful.
Now, the newest version of the game, GT6, has released in Europe and the new season of GT Academy playoffs is about to begin. With partner Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Nissan has released a new version of the latest GT-R to enter the game: the Nissan GT-R NISMO. Those who've registered to compete in GT Academy this year can download the new GT-R NISMO for free and begin training with one of Nissan's most sought-after and butt-whoppin speedsters.
The Nissan GT-R NISMO was recently present at the GT Academy 2014 European Race Camp at Silverstone and during the event, and Grant Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi was able to drive it. The first road-going, real-life GT-R NISMO cars have begun delivery in Japan and the car is now on sale in the United States and Europe, where deliveries will begin next month.
For those not in the GT Academy, the GT-R NISMO can be purchased from the Gran Turismo6 in-game dealership.
"The GT-R NISMO is an incredible car, and I am thrilled that Nissan is able to not only offer it to drivers across the globe, but now also to gamers in the virtual world of Gran Turismo®6," said Yamauchi. "It's another great example of how Nissan continues to bring innovation and excitement to all – both in the real and virtual world."
