Are you a fan of Fiat USA on Facebook? In case you didn’t know, you are in the running for a free 2012 Fiat 500. In order to celebrate reaching its 500,000 fan on Facebook, Fiat will be awarding 10 lucky fans a brand new vehicle. In addition to giving away ten Fiat 500s, the automaker will also award the first 500,000 eligible fans $500 toward the purchase of a new Fiat. Both original and new Fiat USA Facebook fans will be eligible for a free 500 minicar, while just original 500,000 fan members will be qualified for the $500 voucher.
Fans that wish to win a free 500 can visit the “500,000 Celebration” app on Fiat USA Facebook page. Upon registering for the app, individuals will be given a six-digit spin code, which they can take to spin at their local Fiat dealer. The contestant must then spin the number “500,000” in order to win one of the ten 2012 Fiat 500 models. The contest ends on May 31st.
"The FIAT Brand is thankful to have a Facebook community that is as loyal as our fans; we listen to what they have to say and we value their opinions," said Tim Kuniskis, Head of FIAT North America. "We will continue to use social media as a way to not only engage our fans but to also generate discussion and ideas that we may incorporate in future products or marketing campaigns."
Fiat has already gotten the party started, giving away a pair of 500s to two unsuspecting drivers. The customers went on a test drive, in which their salesperson was replaced with an Italian-speaking consultant named Nicolo. The fast-talking Nicolo informed each driver that they were getting the 500 for free, which they of course could not understand. The drivers were then informed of their good fortune after returning to the showroom. The test drive and big payoff was videotaped by Fiat USA and is available to watch below.
The 2012 Fiat 500 currently sits toward the middle of the pack on U.S. News’ list of Affordable Small Cars, ranking 19 out of 41. The 2012 500 earned an overall score of 7.9 based on 50 published reviews and test drives. Although most reviews praise the Fiat 500 for its small exterior and retro styling, it suffered due to its inferior performance and tiny cabin space. In fact, the 500’s engine possesses one of the lowest horsepower ratings of any vehicle in its class.
