Maserati Introduces 2023 Battery-Electric GranTurismo Folgore

Maseratirati has a legacy spanning 75 years, going back to the A6 1500. New for 2023 is the updated GranTurismo. While shoppers can still purchase a new GranTurismo with a modern gasoline engine, peak power for the new model comes from a 760 hp battery-electric powertrain.

Called the GranTurismo Folgore, the new trim of the line features a 100 percent electric battery-based powertrain with technology Maserati says is derived from Formula E. The vehicle has not one, not two, but three powerful 300-kW permanent magnet motors. Maserati used an innovative battery compartment design which it calls a ‘T-bone. The compartment avoids placing the battery modules under the seats, mainly moving them around the central tunnel and therefore considerably lowering the car’s H-point.

The Folgore’s electrical system is based on 800-volt technology, which in other new BEVs has proven to provide faster DC charging times.

The infotainment system will also be cutting edge featuring the Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system, a comfort display that brings together the main functions in an integrated touchscreen interface, an 1195 W Sonus Faber 3-D sound system, 19 speakers, and a Head-up Display.

The GranTurismo is 100 percent made in Italy. Maserati has committed to offering an all-electric version of all Maserati models by 2025, and the entire Maserati range will run on electricity alone by 2030.
