Toyota has announced a new customer support plan for vehicles with peeling white and blizzard pearl paint. The paint can degrade very rapidly. Some vehicles see the paint begin to come off in as little as one year. The problem affects nearly 2 million vehicles. Models included in the program include the Toyota Camry, 4Runner, Corolla, Avalon, Lexus GX, or Scion IQ or XB. The program will support you whether you are the original owner or purchased the vehicle used.

Toyota White Blizzard Pearl Support Program Phase 1 Notification
Toyota began notifying owners last year in the fall. The owners of Toyotas with white or blizzard pearl paint received a letter notifying them of the upcoming support.
Phase 2 - Repair
Toyota's second phase will consist of a repair made by your local dealer at no cost to you. Any authorized Toyota Dealership can determine if a condition is covered by this Customer Support Program, not just the one from which the vehicle was purchased.
Contact your dealer if you have an affected vehicle. They will tell you the schedule and plan for repairs to your vehicle. Those owners who wish to have direct contact with Toyota on this issue can call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-888-270-9371 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.
If you have a Toyota with Blizzard Pearl or Super White paint that seems defective please tell us about it in the comments below. Detail your contact with Toyota and how the issue is being handled. Your experience may help a fellow owner.

Same problem with Blizzard

Same problem with Blizzard Pearl white paint peeling in 2 large spots on my 2015 Toyota Highlander. Went to dealer 3 months ago, pictures taken. Was told they’d submit it and get back. No call back. Called 800 # , 2 days later a “senior claims manager “ and was denied claim even though same paint issues. Car manufactured in USA. They aren’t including Highlanders in claims. Unsure why not. This was our third Toyota. 2 payments left through Toyota finance. Unbelievable this “reputable company” is not covering their loyal customers. Never again!!

I can across this article and posts when two years ago I noticed paint was flaking off around the windows on my Tacoma. I then went and tried applying touch up but looks awful. It is blizzard white. Now it is happening in the hood. So I took it to a local dealership and called Toyota. They refused to do anything. Since I don't have leverage I went to every social media outlet with Toyota and local dealerships and posted my story. Even file the story with the Better Business Bureau. My "leverage" is my wallet and my voice so when my wife and I purchase new vehicles Toyota helped narrow the field of choices. Good luck to everyone. Even though it won't dent their bottom line but I get some satisfaction knowing if I can influence someone to not choosing Toyota then it will cost them more than not fixing my truck

I own a 2006 Toyota Avalon XLS. The blizzard pearl paint has chipped in several places. Only 129,400 miles on it. I took it to Sun Toyota in New Port Richey, FL, and the customer service rep said he would have paint manager call me to make appointment to bring it back for him to see. Instead a woman left a message saying my vin number isn't included. I called Customer Satisfaction at Toyota and spoke with 2 people who said it wasn't a vin number selected for this service. No one can explain why my vin number wasn't chosen. Original customer service rep said sometimes they do jobs even if they aren't technically eligible just for customer satisfaction, I'm a 71 year old female. Could that be the reason my car isn't included, Also my last car was a 4Runner I owned for 14 years, Why not want to help me? I love the car other than the chipping and that I can't open it with a key, only the key fob.

Great question...Toyota has made a choice to not include the model. I have a Tacoma as well and having paint issues for over two years. I went to two dealerships, contacted my brother who is a service manager at a Toyota dealership in Atlanta, and Toyota. They refused to help. Zip. As you can see from the comments it is a far reaching issue. Unfortunately I don't know if a way to convince them otherwise. Your wallet and your voice is the only thing I can think of so my wife and I are ready to buy two new vehicles. Toyota has helped me narrow the choice for a new truck and my wife will not buy Toyota as well.

The blizzard white paint on my 2015 Highlander is peeling off. Toyota says its not covered under their recall. So magically this paint is supposed to not peel like it does on all the other models? Well it does. I guess I have to find a class action lawsuit to join as that's the only reason they did the current recall. Any one else have a Highlander problem?

I bought my 2013 Rav4, new from my local dealership..love the vehicle, but it's not that old, and the white paint started chipping suddenly inside the door.jam..Next thing I see is a huge chunk came off in my hand about the size of my hand, just by touching it..I almost fainted! Never experienced anything like it..I knew this had to a be a defect in the paint, so I called my dealership, and they told me Toyota wanted to make it right for their customers, and to take it to their repair center and they would take care of..I could sleep alot better, after talking to them..So I'm told it's the number 040 paint..Blizzard pearl and white..I'm taking my vehicle asap to my local Toyota repair service..

My 2016 white Corolla’s paint has been peeling off in many areas since I purchased. I also have black spots on the exterior roof and on my trunk which they keep telling me is environmental. My car only has 18k miles, is parked in a garage and is hand washed. I’ve been waiting over a year for the paint shop to call me in.

I have been waiting for over a year for the first dealership to contact me. I took the car to the approved body shop and was told I would be contacted when the paperwork was complete and that it might take a month. Nothing. When I inquire at the dealership, I get the response, we haven't heard back yet. I started the process at another dealership because I felt the service manager at the first dealership was giving me the run around. The second dealership told me I would hear from them in a couple of weeks or maybe a month. That was in April of this year. I'm about to go to the media because I m getting the same run around. Toyota corporate cannot even get an answer from the dealership. This claim to take care of Toyota customers is a hoax. I've only owned Toyota vehicles my whole life. I'm disenchanted.

My 2014 blizzard white Toyota Corolla is peeling everywhere including my bummer. It starts with blisters under the paint and then it started chipping off. Toyota WILL NOT COVER my bummer because they said they’re extended warranty only covers the steel parts of the car. Is anyone else on here experiencing paint chipping on their bummers too?
has anyone had this

has anyone had this successfully repaired? I have been calling my local Toyota Dealership for 2 weeks now for my 2011 Toyota 4 Runner with Blizzard Pearl paint job rapidly peeling. I was given the customer support code from Corporate and gave it to the dealership who said yes, you do qualify for this, but we will have to have collision call you back. I waited a week and no response so i called collision direct today and they said oh no you have to have service to set something up. So i tried service again and was told i had to speak to a manager but they couldn't find one and would have to call me back. I said I would hold. 30 minutes later, I was told they still can't find a manager to help me. I can see this is not going to go well.

I am late to this post but I own a 2011 Avalon and a 2013 Highlander both had/had a peeling roof. For the record, I purchased my Avalon used in 2013 and the roof started peeling in 2016. I went to the dealership and complained several times that my vehicle was too new to have paint issues, but no one cared. I ended up having the roof of the Avalon repainted. Fast forward to 2020 I received a letter in the mail about the recall and explaining how I could be reimbursed for the paint job I paid for. I told the Avalon to Toyota in August and they repainted the entire car! It looks amazing! As for the Highlander, they told me they had not added that model yet, but to be on the lookout for a letter so I am just waiting.
