Toyota White Blizzard Pearl Support Program Phase 1 Notification
Toyota began notifying owners last year in the fall. The owners of Toyotas with white or blizzard pearl paint received a letter notifying them of the upcoming support.

Phase 2 - Repair
Toyota's second phase will consist of a repair made by your local dealer at no cost to you. Any authorized Toyota Dealership can determine if a condition is covered by this Customer Support Program, not just the one from which the vehicle was purchased.

Contact your dealer if you have an affected vehicle. They will tell you the schedule and plan for repairs to your vehicle. Those owners who wish to have direct contact with Toyota on this issue can call the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-888-270-9371 Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, Saturday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm.

If you have a Toyota with Blizzard Pearl or Super White paint that seems defective please tell us about it in the comments below. Detail your contact with Toyota and how the issue is being handled. Your experience may help a fellow owner.

I have a 2010 Camary ,I received a letter with my VIN number stating my car is one that is affected by the recall. When I called the dealership service center I was informed it was not. My paint has become very chalky with no shine so am I covered under this program?

I received a letter from you many many many many months ago maybe even over a year ago and a letter said you would be in contact but I never received the second letter.. I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla and the color is white I've noticed chips on the hood of my car a year after I bought it .. my car needs a new paint job I will be going to the nearest Toyota collision center to take care of that but I just wanted to let the company know you never sent me the second notice on the recall paint..

Call Toyota customer support, give them your VIN and they will give you a customer support code you can take to any Toyota dealer & they inspect. If you qualify, that dealer will send bill to Toyota to pay & set up an appt with you to get paint job. I never got a first or second letter but researched it myself & had my appt with a Toyota collision center Tuesday. They were great about it.

I have a 2012 Toyota Highlander, and the roof has been peeling for 2 years now. I have about 5 sections as large as my out stretched hand, and after a call to Toyota Customer Service line, I was told that the Highlander wasn't affected and in not included in the campaign. It's been a great vehicle other than this issue. Why will Toyota not cover the Highlander?
Selling it, and it may be my last Toyota because of their lack of response.

I have a 2014 Rav with White Blizzard, which I paid extra for. About 2 months ago I noticed a huge section on my roof where the paint was gone. In early October, I took it to the dealership and the service manager sent me to the body shop for them to take pictures to submit the claim. I was told corporate would notify them within a couple of weeks as to whether it was approved or not. I hadn't heard anything so I called last week. The service manager told me it was approved and the body shop would be contacting me to set up a date to bring it in for the work. When I hung up with him, I called the body shop. They had not received any information, so I was told they would contact the SM and get back to me. I just called again today and was told the exact same thing. At this point I'm getting angry at the run around. But this time I was told they do only 1 warranty paint job a month. I understand shops don't make money on warranty work but this is the manufacturer's fault. This is my third Toyota, and if they don't take care of me, I will definitely go with another car next time. My next step is to call the Toyota # if I don't hear back by Monday.

I just spoke to Toyota about my peeling paint on my 2015 Camry XLE. They said I could take it to any Toyota dealership for repairs. The dealership will review and make sure it is a covered issue. Toyota verified my car VIN and said it was in the covered class.

My 2010 Corolla is chipping on the hood. It seems to be getting worse but no huge areas that others are talking about. I am trying to decide if this chipping is covered.

I refinish vehicles for Mercedes, Nissan, VW, Infiniti, and Kia, however, my Toyota is peeling really bad and they won’t let me refinish my own vehicle although I am certified and do the warranty for these manufacturers. Not fair, it’s called steering and is illegal. I gave up today and am consulting with attorneys! I own 4 Toyota’s now but never again. This is NOT the first run around with them.

2010 Prius with only 122,000 miles, blizzard pearl paint peeling off. The effected areas are driver front door and around windshield. Emailed Toyota service with the issue/complain. I did some some touch-up paint repair but now the area around my work is pealing. The peeling paint seems to not have any adhesion to the primer below; You can actually slide a sharp blade under the paint and undress the car I suppose.

I too have a 2010 Toyota Prius, blizzard white with 188 K miles. Great car except the peeling of paint that started in summer of 2020. Now it's similar to your peeling, pretty bad and getting worse every day. I've gotten quotes from 1800 to 3200. That will paint the whole car. The difference is the paint choice. To repaint same it's very expensive, to choose any other white color, less. I heard about the recall late last year and took the car into dealership to correct a software recall. They took pictures and submitted to Toyota HC. It took almost a month to get a no, thank you.
I have a few concerns. If I paint, will pealing continue. I received a verbal quote to sand down entire car an additional $700+. This car is not worth much other than it's a great running and economical vehicle. I was told they didn't include the Prius in the recall because it was built in Japan???

I have a 2015 Highlander with Blizzard Pearl paint. It started pealing up near the window in the rear of the car. This is obviously a paint problem. I don't understand why they won't fix certain models. I think a class action lawsuit is a good idea too.

My White pearl 2006 LEXUS GX470 has major paint issue with peeling off on hood, roof, door panels, rear quarter panel...etc. please help!!!

I have a 2008 Highlander and my Blizzard Pearl Paint has been chipping for years! I contacted Toyota Headquarters and they advised me to bring the vehicle in for pictures. I was told by the Dealer and the Repair shop that I had defective paint, only for my claim to be denied because apparently they only recalled certain vehicles. I know several people with Blizzard Pearl Paint and they have the same issues! Just look online or when you're driving around and you'll see all the issues with Blizzard Pearl Paint. Shame on you Toyota for knowing your paint is defective and not standing behind your products or offering to help!!

Thanks for your response. Did you paint your vehicle? Did it stop the peeling? I agree Toyota should not be able to get away with not including Any Toyota that has this paint defect in the recall.

Cant believe customer service from toyota. Have a 2017 tacoma with bad paint! toyota agrees bad paint, known issue but will fix only some cars? same paint, same metal, same process but only fix on camry, corolla but not other vehicle. one person at toyota says issue not known??? then said not enough people complaining on tacoma??? How many times do they need to be told of the issue to be aware of of it and how many people have to complain about a issue to get it fixed and why should anyone have to complain. The paint is bad, toyota knows it and should fix it!

We have a 2007 Toyota Rav4 and started noticing a paint peeling issue in 2016 without the car having been in any accidents. We took the car to Toyota Marin in 2017 and I spoke with Chris Cooper the Customer Relations Manager and he said it was not under warranty any longer but that he could get a quote from his auto body place. His quote came in at $2,260.68 and he said he would cover $500 and my insurance company could pay the rest. I asked why should my insurance cover something that is obviously a factory defect? Then in 2020, I learned about a recall notice from Toyota corporate about their Blizzard Pearl white paint. I went back in and explained that this issue is now confirmed as a factory defect. They said the recall only covers 2008-2017 and offered nothing. I petitioned Toyota corporate and they too said my car is not included in the manufacturer's recall, but that if enough owners with 2007s come forward they may add that year. Is anyone else with a 2007 having the same paint issue? This is so frustrating!

Hi Dorothy.

After reading about so many people who are affected by the defective paint, not the type or year of vehicle. This is a corporate Toyota problem. It has nothing to do with the vehicle, it's the paint that is 100% defective.

Sofia (not verified)    January 19, 2022 - 4:39AM

Here in Australia Toyota is using g the dealership as the point t of contact and refuse to talk to customer... when I tried talking to the dealership they would blame Toyota Australia saying that Toyota Australia would decided they would only cover 25% of the costs of repairs but wouldn't elaborate further on why that was the case (considering it is a defeat to 100% of the paint on the car!!!) And also how they came to that decision of only covering 25% of the repairs cost!. The smash repairer for toyota have informed me that they see at least 4-5 cars a month thatbare experiencing thebsame problem!

EXTREAMLY disappointed Toyota!!!! Everyone that sees the issue with my car asks what happens and I make sure to educate them as to the defect that Toyota refuses to fix!!!

2012 highlander. Toyota says not covered. Initially started to peel in 2019. Now in late 2021 started to peel in a new place. So frustrating since we are original owner too.

I called Toyota about the Super White paint peeling on my Tacoma and they basically said,
“Tough luck”
