What does it mean for Subaru shoppers?
Subaru of America's top three selling models will remain hard to find this fall. The microchip shortages and factory shutdowns have hurt Subaru more than other automakers. iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer says, "Production halts and restricted inventory continue to beset the auto industry, but we did see an incremental improvement this past month."
Brauer says, "Subaru's American sales fell 40 percent in October due to supply-chain shortages leading to scarce inventory levels for its most popular models, which include the Crosstrek, Forester, and Outback."

What should customers expect this fall and winter?
What should new 2022 Subaru Forester, Outback, and Crosstrek shoppers do now? Savvy car shoppers can wait and order the 2022 Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, and other models in the color and trim level they want from their Subaru retailer. How long is the wait? It's taking about three to four months if a customer orders a new model today.
When will the 2022 Crosstrek and 2022 Forester arrive in the U.S.?
Subaru has made the model change from 2021 Forester to the refreshed 2022 Forester models. A source close to Subaru told us that their pipeline report shows the first 2022 Forester models are expected to arrive in mid-December, but those are likely already pre-sold to customers.

Subaru has not announced the 2022 Crosstrek yet, but there will only be a few changes to the new models. The 2022 Forester and Crosstrek will be in the most demand and will have the shortest supply. The 2022 Outback will be a close third, but the midsize SUV is manufactured in Lafayette, Indiana, exclusively for North American customers and should be in greater supply.
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, 2021 Subaru Forester, and 2022 Subaru Outback are the fastest-selling small SUVs in the U.S. in October. They will remain the hardest to find models in Subaru of America's all-wheel-drive lineup.
