Is the 2014 Mercedes S-Class the finest car in the world?

The new 2014 Mercedes S-Class is making waves all over the globe and could it be the finest luxury sedan on the planet? That’s what editors from China's top automotive publications think about the new luxury S-Class saloon from Mercedes-Benz. They have chosen the luxury sedan as the first ever China Car of the Year by the Chief Editors’ Club. The China Car Awards were presented today at an awards ceremony during the Guangzhou Auto Show, which is hosted by PRIME Research and Automobil Produktion. The new S-Class is being recognized all over the world.

The new luxury S-Class is the first model to win the prestigious China Car of the Year title. Mercedes sells more S-Class models in China than anywhere else in the world. The prize was received by President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz China Mr. Nicholas Speeks, who stated at the presentation ceremony, “The decision reaffirms the model’s stature and position in China, its top market worldwide.”

S-Class chosen from 53 candidates

The China editors has a long list of automobiles to chose from. There were 53 candidates eligible for the honor and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class was chosen from the initial entry list, the shortlist of seven, and the three finalists. The final three came down to the Land Rover Range Rover, the Chang’an Ford Mondeo, and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Vehicles are selected and voted on by a juror panel comprised of ten (10) automotive editors-in-chief from ten (10) different Chinese car magazines. Each juror was appointed by the C-Club on the basis of their expertise, experience, credibility, and influence. The jurors are automotive journalists who evaluates new vehicles on a regular basis. Through their respective outlets they collectively reach an audience of many millions in China.

Mercedes has claimed that the S-Class is the finest automobile in the world and they may be right. The China Car Award jurors observed that “there's no other car like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class: it’s not only setting the benchmark for the industry, but it also embodies the peak of modern cars in this era.”

S-Class receives more global awards

This isn’t the first award the new 2014 S-Class has received this year. The readers of "BILD am SONNTAG" and "AUTO BILD" voted together with a jury of automotive experts to award the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with the coveted "Golden Steering Wheel" as the best new car in the premium and luxury segment. And just last week, the readers of the German motoring magazine "Auto Zeitung" voted the Mercedes-Benz S-Class the best car in the luxury class.

This writer believes the new 2014 S-Class is the best luxury saloon on the planet. There is no rival for this luxury sedan from Mercedes-Benz. The German automaker has designed and built an incredible car that has innovations that are not found in any other car. Mercedes is the most innovative automaker in the world. S-Class also offers incredible performance and is a luxury sport sedan.

The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is already being recognized as the best luxury vehicle all over the world. The Europeans voted for the luxury saloon in two different prestigious awards and now the Chinese have chosen the luxury sedan as the first ever China Car of the Year.
