Nissan Sentra gets a small price increase and a new sporty SR Turbo for the 2017 model year. The 2017 Nissan Sentra starts at $16,990, (a $210 increase) SR Turbo starts at $21,990.
What’s new for 2017?
Nissan says, all 2017 Sentra trims get improved interior quietness due to increased front and rear window glass thickness and nearly double the storage capacity in the front center console. Not much else has changed except for the addition of the sporty new SR Turbo.
The new sporty 2017 Sentra SR Turbo model was just unveiled in Miami. It uses the same engine found in the Nissan Juke. It’s a 1.6-liter direct injected gas turbo engine with 188 horsepower and 177 lb. ft of torque. Nissan infused the the SR Turbo with 50 percent more hp than the standard base Sentra. In the small compact, it should be enough to excite driving enthusiasts.
A 6-speed manual gearbox will ramp up the fun meter
It should be a blast to drive for driving enthusiasts. Yes, a 6-speed manual gearbox is available and that’s good news. The other option is a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) Xtronic that won’t excite anyone.
The SR Turbo is offered in seven exterior colors: Red Alert, Brilliant Silver, Gun Metallic, Super Black, Aspen White (premium color) and Deep Blue Pearl. The 2017 Nissan Sentra is available now. Look for the new SR Turbo to be in showrooms in October.
