Will Subaru Corporation discontinue the Legacy sedan? Probably not. But, like in November, sales are down again in December, showing that customers aren't excited about the model. I cover all Subaru models, and the Legacy is the most uninspiring model in the lineup.
The Legacy is an excellent vehicle with Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive and all-weather capability, new technology inside, comfortable ride quality, and the latest safety tech, and it gets the highest safety scores. But only some buyers want the sedan.
Subaru Legacy by the numbers. The Legacy sedan takes another dive.
The 2024 Subaru Legacy midsize sedan is the sixth best-selling model for Subaru of America. The Legacy was down 11.6 percent in December, with 1,878 models delivered to customers compared with 2,125 sales in December 2022.
Despite the downturn, the Legacy is up 12.9 percent to finish 2023, with 25,510 sedans sold to customers in 2023. So the Legacy is down but not out. The Legacy is hanging on well enough for Subaru of America that they won't drop the model.
What's next for the Legacy?
Subaru is expected to give the 2025 Legacy sedan a complete remodel. But don't expect radical changes. Subaru Corporation has always kept its next-generation models much the same in exterior styling.
Most of the upgrades will come underneath the sheet metal. The new 2025 Legacy will have improved ride quality with suspension upgrades, new infotainment inside, and the next-generation EyeSight driver assist safety tech.

Customers will get a safe, reliable, all-weather, capable midsize sedan. It will be a good value for new sedan shoppers.
Subaru of America has yet to release details about the next-generation Legacy. I am speculating that the 2025 Subaru Legacy could get a new hybrid trim level. Subaru will offer a new 2025 Forester hybrid trim and will likely do the same with the Legacy.

An all-new fuel-efficient 2025 Subaru Legacy Hybrid trim level could keep the midsize sedan off the chopping block. I will bring you the next-generation Subaru announcement as soon as Subaru of America makes the announcement. Stay tuned.

I drive a 2024 Legacy Sport. Turbo of course. Best car I have ever owned. I think Subaru needs to simply advertise this car more. It's a rocket ship and I truly believe people are not informed about this car and how good it is.

I'd have totally gotten a Legacy Sport, but didn't have one available locally. I'm a bit jealous, tbh.
I got an OBW. So, still happy!
