I'll ask you a question. Do you want to buy a car and brand that has the most significant social impact? According to Forbes' new "Best Brands For Social Impact 2024," Subaru of America is where you should shop and buy a 2024 Forester, Crosstrek, Outback, or other new Subaru model.
Forbes says "Consumers might actually be considering companies' efforts more than they have in the past."
Where Did Subaru Rank?
Impressively, Forbes ranked Subaru number two overall and remained the top brand in the automotive category. This is the second consecutive year Subaru has taken home the high honor. I covered it last year here.

This is Forbes' second annual Social Impact List, created with HundredX. The list acknowledges companies most admired by evaluating ratings in four survey categories: Overall Brand Values and Trust, Social Stances, Sustainability, and Community Support.
"People care," HundredX CEO Rob Pace says. "There's this debate that this stuff doesn't matter, that it got over-hyped. But we're still seeing the consumer, unaided, is more likely to call it out this year than last."
Subaru is the only car brand in the top ten. The next best car company on the Forbes list is Toyota, ranked sixteenth overall.
What is the number one brand for a significant social impact?
REI, a significant partner of Subaru of America, is the number one overall brand with the most important social impact on customers.
President and Chief Operating Officer of Subaru of America, Jeff Walters, says, "Giving back and creating personal connections in our communities is essential to Subaru and our retailers. We're proud to be recognized among an expanded group of incredible brands for our dedication to the Subaru Love Promise, which so clearly makes a meaningful impact both inside and outside our company."
Subaru Says They Are More Than A Car Company
I recently wrote a story: Is Subaru More Than A Car Company, Or Are They Full Of Hot Air? In that piece, I wrote that Subaru of America received three recognitions, and they revealed a lot about the Camden, N.J. automaker.
Subaru of America touts that they are more than a car company. Is it true, or is it just more hot air? https://t.co/8gxqjrVtU4 #subaru #subarulovepromise @SubaruReport photo @subaru_usa pic.twitter.com/174lK9qouR

Subaru was honored with the 2023 Engage for Good Gold Halo Award for Best Education Initiative for the Subaru Loves Learning program. Additionally, Subaru was recognized as a Civic 50 2023 Honoree for the third consecutive year. Subaru was also ranked 16th among the most visible brands in America on the 2023 Axios Harris Poll 100 Reputation Rankings.
At the time, Subaru of America said the prestigious honors exemplified the automaker's commitment to corporate citizenship and social impact through its Subaru Love Promise initiatives.
Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Subaru of America, said, "For years, national and local, our employees, retailers, and charitable partners have helped communities nationwide by supporting the causes and issues that impact them most. Acknowledgments like these are a great reminder of the importance of continuing this work together."
What Is The Work That Subaru of America Does?
Subaru has its Love Promise, which says it is guiding the Camden, N.J. automaker and its retailers in making the world better. Subaru says five pillars drive the automaker's vision to be More Than A Car Company. They are:
- Earth
- Care
- Help
- Learning
- Pets
"The pillars of Earth, Care, Help, Learning, and Pets, as well as the Subaru Share the Love Event, spread that love and philanthropy across a diverse group of partners and causes, including The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), Make-A-Wish, Meals on Wheels America and the National Park Foundation," says Bethke.
Subaru Corporate Sounds Off
Subaru Corporation says, "Toward achieving our vision of "Delivering Happiness to All," Subaru will fulfill our corporate social responsibility and provide "Enjoyment and Peace of Mind" to our customers and other stakeholders by promoting initiatives based on the Subaru Global Sustainability Policy. Subaru aims to be a truly global company with every employee driving sustainable growth while continuing its efforts to contribute to the realization of an enjoyable and sustainable society."
I'll ask again: Do you want to buy a car and brand with the most significant social impact?
