One of the worst things, when you buy a new car, is that it needs to go in for repairs in the first two or three years you own it. Consumer Reports (by subscription) has tested all new cars under $30,000 and found the top new cars and SUVs that score highest in reliability.

The number one SUV in the latest CR ratings is the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek compact SUV. The Subaru Crosstrek scored number one among the top 15 models subcompact SUVs with an overall score of 86, one point higher than the 2021 model year.

CR’s seven most reliable and fuel-efficient compact SUVs are the Hyundai Tucson with a score of 93, followed by the Subaru Forester (score of 90), Toyota RAV4 Prime (88), Subaru Crosstrek (86), Honda CR-V (84), Lexus UX (71), and Toyota RAV4 (68).

What is the price of the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek?

The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission. This combination works fine and gets 29 mpg overall, which is among the best for small SUVs.”

So one thing I don't understand is how can there be any accurate consumer reports about reliability if the car hasn't even been out a year?
