The 2024 Subaru Forester is made in Subaru's Gunma, Japan plant now, but a recent report from Automotive News (by subscription) says Subaru Corporation will possibly move manufacturing of the next-generation model (coming in 2025) to its plant in Lafayette, Indiana.
The AN report says Subaru Corporation's future product plans will require the Japanese automaker to "rebalance its North American production capacity" to "widen its U.S. product offerings to include more battery-electric vehicles."

AutoForecast Solutions, which tracks automaker production plans, projects that Subaru will consolidate production of its Forester compact SUV and other models in the U.S. in 2025. The Automotive News report says doing so would free up capacity in the Indiana plant to expand the Forester and Crosstrek crossovers production while providing capacity for future EV production.
Subaru of America announced the 2024 Forester, a carry-over model with no changes. Customers must wait another year for the remodeled next-generation Forester compact SUV.

Subaru Corporation has decided to stand pat with the current-generation Forester for one more year before it gets a complete remodel. But it's a brilliant move because with Forester sales staying strong, the Japanese automaker can spend another year on the redesign.
The 2024 Subaru Forester SUV coming this fall is currently made at the Subaru plant in Gunma, Japan, and it's hard to get in the U.S. now. The next-generation model was delayed until 2025, and the move to manufacture the compact SUV in the U.S. could be a significant reason.
What is the price of the 2024 Forester?
All 2024 Forester trim levels increased by $770 in price, including destination and delivery. The Forester comes in six trim levels: The Base Forester starts at $28,190, Premium ($31,390), Sport ($32,960), Limited ($35,070), Wilderness ($36,015), and Touring ($38,490). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,295).
Automotive News says Subaru Corporation has not confirmed the 2025 Subaru Forester information that production will move from Gunma, Japan, to Lafayette, Indiana. Moving Forester's manufacturing to the U.S. would allow Subaru's new EVs, made in the U.S., to qualify for the entire U.S. EV tax credit. More changes are coming to Subaru and possibly the Forester. Stay tuned.
