Is the all-new 2022 Subaru BRZ one of the best performance cars in the world? The next-generation 2022 Subaru BRZ and the Toyota GR86 are nominated by the World Car of the Year (WCOTY) and are now among the top three finalists in the performance car category.
A jury of 102 international automotive journalists from 33 countries selected the finalists by secret ballot based on evaluating each eligible vehicle “as part of their professional work.” The winners will be announced live at the 2022 New York International Auto Show on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

The 2022 BRZ sports coupe now has two impressive competitors. The top three finalists for the World Performance Car of the year are the Audi e-tron GT and the BMW M3/M4.
What makes the BRZ a contender?
The 2022 BRZ gets a complete redesign from the ground up and is powered by a new naturally-aspirated direct and port fuel injection 2.4-liter Boxer engine. The BRZ is still the most affordable rear-drive sports car in the world.
The second-generation 2022 Subaru BRZ is lighter, faster, safer, and stays affordable with a new trim level that costs less than the previous generation price.
What is the price of the 2022 Subaru BRZ?
The new 2022 Subaru BRZ Premium with a 6-speed manual gearbox has a starting price of $28,955. BRZ Premium with an automatic transmission starts at $30,555. The Limited (6-speed manual) has a starting MSRP of $31,455. The Limited with an automatic transmission starts at $33,255. All pricing includes destination and delivery fees.
The 2022 BRZ is popular with sports car enthusiasts
Because of its complete redesign, new engine, and affordability, the 2022 BRZ is a big success. It has already sold out this year because the sports car met its initial order allotment. Subaru of America has stopped all 2022 BRZ orders, and a report from Kelly Blue Book says if you want a new BRZ, you’ll have to wait until the 2023 models arrive.
KBB says, “Subaru has taken as many orders as it can fill for the 2022 model.” A report from CarsDirect says Subaru of America stopped accepting orders for the 2022 BRZ on January 13.
