What is the most popular vehicle in Washington, Colorado, and Maine? The last study we reported on showed the Subaru Outback wagon was the most popular new model among customers in these three states. The new Subaru Forester was the top seller in Connecticut and the Legacy sedan was most popular in Vermont. A new report from iSeeCars shows the Subaru brand is losing its grips in these states.
The study reveals the Ford F-150 pickup truck has surpassed the Subaru Outback in Colorado, Washington, and Maine, and the Forester falls to the Honda CR-V in Connecticut, and the Toyota RAV4 takes the top spot from the Legacy in Vermont. The study looked at over 19 million vehicle sales for 2019 to determine the most popular new cars across the U.S. by the metro area and state.
2020 Subaru Outback has been redesigned
The Rocky Mountain area and Colorado has been pickup country for as long as anyone can remember. The Ford F-150 has been the best selling vehicle in Colorado for decades so it’s no surprise the pickup takes the spot over from the Subaru Outback wagon.
Don’t feel sorry for Subaru. Now that the new 2020 Outback SUV-alternative vehicle has arrived in dealer showrooms, Subaru can’t produce enough for buyers in the Rocky Mountain region and could be why the new wagon lost to the Ford F-150.
2020 Subaru Outback is produced at its U.S.plant
Subaru has been leveraging production of the Outback against the all-new Ascent that is also produced at the U.S. plant in Lafayette, Indiana. 2019 marked the 12th straight year of sales increases and 11th consecutive year of record sales for Subaru in the U.S.
Subaru of America delivered 181,178 Outback models to customers in 2019 making it the top-selling model again for Subaru just edging out the Forester SUV with 180,179 models moved off dealer lots. It was an all-time record and best-ever year for Forester.
The newly-remodeled 2020 Subaru Outback is still the number one selling vehicle in the all-wheel-drive lineup. In Snowbelt states where the Ford F-150 was tops in sales, the Outback is still the most popular car, and dealers will be getting more to sell. Subaru Corporation reports U.S. production is expected to reach a record 410,000 units in 2020. Can the Outback pass the Ford F-150 again? Stay tuned.
