The New Subaru Solterra EV Customer Reservation System Opens Today

Subaru will open up its reservation system for the 2023 Solterra EV in the U.S. today. Check out what customers need to know here and get the new reservation website link here.

How can customers order the all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra? As we reported last week, Subaru of America will open an online reservation system for customers today at noon EST. Subaru has announced new information for the Solterra reservation website, and the link can be found here. The reservation page will not be live until noon EST today.

What customers need to know before ordering a Solterra

You can pre-order your Subaru Solterra all-electric EV SUV by putting down a $250 refundable deposit and making a reservation. If you can’t order today, the online reservation system will be open through February 28th. But you need to act quickly. Check out new images from the Northeast International Auto Show.

There will only be approximately 6,000 reservations available for customers. As reported here last week, Planet Subaru says Subaru Corporation will likely produce fewer than 10,000 2023 Solterra EVs, and only one or two per month for each of Subaru of America’s 634 retailers, for the entire calendar year 2022. The Solterra is expected to arrive in June or July 2022 in the U.S.

With the limited number of Solterra models produced for Subaru of America's customers, and the interest level shown so far, demand will quickly outstrip supply for the automaker's first-ever all-electric SUV.

Subaru should ramp up production of the 2024 Solterra EVs in 2023, so customers who don’t get one of the first 6,000 models, can get the new all-electric model early next year.

Is the $250 deposit refundable?

The Planet Subaru report says Subaru of America will hold all deposits in a secure non-interest-bearing account. Deposits can be applied to the final sold order for a 2023 Solterra by the selected retailer. If your retailer is unable to contact you in June 2022, your reservation will be automatically canceled, and the $250 deposit will be refunded.

Can I cancel my reservation?

Yes, completing the reservation process does not constitute a vehicle purchase or lease and does not guarantee that your desired Solterra trim and color will be available. Subaru says they will make every effort to fulfill all reservation orders with the exact vehicle ordered.

Subaru says the new Solterra will be available in all 50 states. Final orders, pricing, availability, and financing will be agreed upon with the customer’s Subaru retailer between April and May 2022, subject to pricing announcement.

What is the price of the 2023 Subaru Solterra?

Subaru should release pricing information soon, and the new EV will likely be priced around $40,000 for the base trim and could approach $50,000 for the fully-loaded Touring trim level. The 2023 Solterra is offered in three trim levels for U.S. customers. Check out our complete model and trim guide here.

I pre-ordered a Solterra today just after 12 noon. Subaru emailed me a confirmation number for a Galatic Black Premium with black fabric interior. Pricing will be available in April-May and I can cancel the order anytime. I had to pick a dealer in a town other than the one I live in because of allocation restrictions. A pre-order does not guarantee that I will get a Solterra.

Well, if a Solterra isn't in your near future, there's always a Kia EV6: AWD with better range and faster acceleration. We still don't know how long it takes to charge the Solterra, but the EV6 charges FAST!. Like you, I have a reservation for a Solterra. But I went to sit in an EV6 today. The dealership near me received some first edition versions today (which is roughly the EV6 GT with more standard features, including a functioning sun roof). Nice car. And unlike the Solterra, you can even get an EV6 in Subaru Blue. Further, you can order them now, or so the salesman told me.

The EV6 sort of reminds me of a Citroen DS. I'm kind of drawn more to the EV6. But while the first edition EV6 had no dealer markup, other than for equipment, the remaining 2022 EV6s will get a $5k markup, at least at the Kia dealer near me.

As for EVGO, it appears that those stations are few and far between in the flyover states. No matter. I have an ICE vehicle to run from hurricanes.

After 3 Subaru Forresters (2014,2017 & 2020), I now want an EV from Subaru…
I’m in my early 80’s so I don’t want to wait too long to get my EV.
