What a difference one year makes. The once-hot Subaru Crosstrek is now in third place in Subaru of America's all-wheel-drive lineup. The Crosstrek also had the most significant percentage of decrease in July of any Subaru SUV.
The Subaru Crosstrek subcompact SUV is now behind the hot Forester compact SUV in July sales, which took over the number one spot from the Subaru Outback midsize SUV.

Subaru Crosstrek drops before the next-generation models arrive.
As Subaru makes the model change to the all-new 2024 Crosstrek, sales of the subcompact SUV dropped 20.1 percent in July, as the last 2023 models are now gone. Subaru delivered 11,241 Crosstrek subcompact SUVs to customers in July compared with 14,076 in July 2022.
The Outback had 12,430 models delivered in July, and Forester was on top with 14,504 compact SUV sales in July.
The Crosstrek is up 3.9 percent for the year's first seven months. Crosstrek is still second in the lineup behind Outback year to date, with 87,371 models sold in 2023.
Look for the Crosstrek to rebound as the next-generation models arrive now.

The 2024 Crosstrek Base and Premium trims are the first to arrive on U.S. shores. Those models are still built in Gunma, Japan. The 2024 Crosstrek Sport and Limited trim levels are now made in Lafayette, Indiana, and begin arriving late this summer.
The Crosstrek is still in high demand as it's a good value for small SUV shoppers this summer. The 2024 Crosstrek is all-new and gets significant upgrades over the 2023 models.

The all-new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness is expected to be a popular trim level which is also built at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive plant. The outdoor-themed Crosstrek Wilderness will arrive this fall for off-road enthusiasts.
Who should buy the Crosstrek Wilderness trim?
If you will take your vehicle off-road and want to get further off the grid for camping, hiking, mountain climbing, or Overlanding, the more rugged Wilderness is the trim level for you.

The Subaru Crosstrek dropped in sales in July. It's because the 2023 models are gone, and the next-generation models are now arriving as Subaru Corporation and Subaru of Indiana Automotive switch to the new models.
