Subaru says, "We're bringing something new to the 2024 BRZ with Scott Speed, and you've got to be there. Grab your Subiefest California tickets now." What is something new Subaru is talking about?
Subaru of America is bringing a new 2024 Subaru BRZ sport coupe to Subiefest in California with a new upgrade. It won't be a new BRZ with a turbocharged engine or a sport coupe with hybrid technology. There could be a performance package coming. Here is what we know.
When Subaru uncovers the new BRZ, Scott Speed will be the first to drive the new 6-speed manual transmission model equipped with EyeSight driver assist safety technology.
Scott Speed is Subaru of America's professional race driver. Speed was the first to drive the next-generation 2020 BRZ and the 2022 Subaru WRX when they arrived. Now he gets the new 2024 BRZ honors.
Here is what Speed will be driving at Subiefest.
Subaru Corporation recently announced that the first manual transmission Subaru vehicle with EyeSight safety technology would be a Japanese-specification BRZ sport coupe arriving in Japan this fall. The 2024 Subaru sports car will be the first model in the U.S. with the new technology.
What changes are coming to the 2024 BRZ?
The 2024 Subaru BRZ 6-speed manual sports car with Eyesight offers pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure and sway warning, lead vehicle start alert, and rear sonar warning.
Subaru says, "While retaining its high performance in collision avoidance, collision damage mitigation, and reducing the driver's workload, the new EyeSight system is now combined with control tailored to manual transmission vehicles' driving and operating characteristics. This allows the system to operate in a wide range of real-world situations, providing a high level of driving enjoyment and peace of mind."
Until now, Subaru Corporation has not fitted the BRZ or WRX manual transmission models with EyeSight safety technology because they weren't willing to invest the resources to make the driver-assist system work with a manual gearbox. But that changed with the recent Subaru Corporation announcement.
Because safety is a core value for Subaru, the Japanese automaker is committed to making EyeSight with automatic emergency braking standard across all BRZ and WRX trim levels. Subaru states, "Through these efforts, we aim to achieve zero fatal road accidents in 2030." Subaru says this involves zero fatal road accidents among occupants of Subaru vehicles and people involved in collisions with Subaru vehicles, including pedestrians and cyclists.
Scott Speed will drive the first 2024 Subaru BRZ 6-speed Manuel with EyeSight at Subiefest on July 23. Torque News via Subaru Report will bring the 2024 BRZ's new upgrades when officially announced by Subaru of America. Stay tuned.
