The Subaru Levorg BTCC race cars are on fire as they get another victory this weekend. It was Jason Plato’s Subaru Levorg sports tourer that won at Knockhill today. He qualified in first place and ran a lights to flag race. This was another big milestone for Jason Plato. He was celebrating his 500th BTCC race, and he did it in style with a win.
Plato drives it home
In Plato’s 500th BTCC race, the Silverline Subaru BMR Racing driver got a quick start in the Levorg and built a commanding lead over the first half of the race. Jack Goff, in his BMW, caught Plato in the latter stages of the race but the BTCC legend held on to claim his 95th race win.
He also had to contend with a safety car period on lap 20 after Dan Welch tipped Warren Scott’s Subaru Levorg into the gravel. It threatened Plato’s chances for a victory, but Scott’s Levorg was removed by the marshals and the race was back underway. Plato managing the remaining laps with ease and cruised to a victory.
Another strong outing for Subaru
Colin Turkington set the fastest lap of the race setting a new race lap record and made his way up to a podium spot into 3rd. James Cole brought the third Subaru Levorg home in 15th the last point scoring position. Team Boss Warren was tapped into a spin and retired from the race.
In total, Plato’s BTCC career has amassed nearly two decades, has two drivers’ titles and 95 race wins to his name. Jason now has 210 podium finishes, 49 pole positions and 85 fastest laps along with his first win in the Subaru Levorg. The Silverline Subaru BMR Racing team has the rear-wheel-drive Subaru Levorgs dialed in and they are on fire in the BTCC.
