The Subaru WRX Is Faster From 0-60 MPH Than 10 New Sports Cars, Slower Than 3

If you buy any sports car, you want to go fast. Check out the 2020 Subaru WRX 0-60 mph time compared with 12 other sports cars.

The 2020 Subaru WRX is designed for traction on all surfaces and going fast in the curves. How does it do in a straight line from 0-60 mph? A new study of vehicles with the best combination of fuel economy and acceleration shows the 2020 Subaru WRX is faster from 0-60 miles per hour than ten sports cars and roadsters. And it's only slower than three.

Consumer Reports (by subscription) didn't test the Subaru WRX STI because this study was about fuel-efficiency and acceleration, not pure speed. The milder WRX uses the smaller 2.0-liter direct-injection turbocharged Boxer engine (23 combined mpg) versus the 2.5-liter engine in the STI (19 combined mpg.)

How fast is the Subaru WRX?

The 268 horsepower Subaru WRX will launch from 0-60 mph in 6.0 seconds. That's faster than the Mazda MX-5 Miata Club (6.7 seconds), Honda Civic Si (7.3), Fiat 124 Spider Lusso (7.1), Mini Cooper S (7.0), Subaru BRZ/Toyota86 (7.2), Volkswagen GTI Autobahn (6.6), Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec (7.0), Audi TT 2.0T (6.3), and the Ford Mustang Premium 2.3T (6.4).

The Subaru WRX is slower than three models tested by CR. The BMW M235i takes 5.2 seconds from 0-60, the Toyota Supra Premium comes in 4.6 seconds from 0-60 mph, and the Porsche 718 Boxter is fastest at 4.4 seconds from 0-60 mph.

What does the Subaru WRX cost compared with the faster sports cars?

Consumer Reports didn't measure the best value in sports cars, but how does the WRX compare in price? The 2020 WRX Premium trim starts at $29,795. The faster BMW M235i has a starting MSRP of $45,500, the all-new Toyota Supra Premium starts at $42,990, and the Porsche 718 Boxter begins at $62,000.

The Subaru WRX is the only sports car among the cars tested with standard all-wheel-drive. It's what sets the sports-tuned model apart from the competition.

For power, price, and fuel-efficiency, the 2020 Subaru WRX is still the best performance sports car value on the planet. It's why it's outselling all compact sports cars, including the new Chevrolet Corvette. Check it out below.

Volvo ! No one has mentioned Volvo . I burn mustangs , corvettes , camaros , porche , off the road on daily basis ! I drive a 2006 volvo s60 . IM IN ARIZONA , I see more subarus than anything , but they never want try me , havent figured that one out yet . I have raced some super fast acuras as well . There was one corvette that was freaky fast that got me in the long run but not in the first quarter mile . I have all the upgrades you can find for the s60r , and pushing 573 hp at all 4 wheels with 490lbs trk , with 22 to 25 psi of boost . I know thats not stock , but my point is , most cars wont go fast for long , if they are not built well . Your better off buying a well built reliable car used , and putting money in to it with upgrades and maintaining it . Build and drive a car you can count on to go fast and stay fast ! Dont depend on the manufactures vehicle specs , its worthless .

No thanks. I went to Volvo's website and only automatic is offered. Your car sounds fast but the new ones start at over 50 k so I would rather a tuned mustang or corvette. Wrx are nice but speed isn't everything. Also yes subaru have issues with blowing up but a conservative tune of 350 hp or 400 hp with forged internals still cheaper than volvo.

Dude Volvo? There are plenty of subies pushing well over 1000 whp...Dont bring a modded car into this conversation because its a stock AWD performance car comparison..Volvo's are freaking money pits..Plaid that game before..I've owned them all..Including one of the first big turbo b5 s4's pushing almost 700 whp, back in like 04 when that was actually an impressive number. Today its not

Very selective comparison, I can make one for 20 diferent models and engine options where this car would be 18 of 20. Or 1 of 10 whothever you pick to compare

Most car enthusiasts don’t keep these cars stock. They are like legos. Stock they aren’t fast.Once you start modding they really open up. I have a 2017 wrx with 468whp (around 560bhp). I beat most cars like 90% of them. With awd and tuning potential, it’s a great choice.

Forget the 0-60 times and the WRX is by far more reliable, better handling and all purpose sports sedan on earth. If I want to throw money at it I can get mid 4’s to low 5’s and I have all wheel drive and bullet proof reliability. I live in the northwest so it rains and occasionally snows and the car handles amazing in all conditions. I believe there is no such thing as a perfect car but the WRX comes as close as it gets.
