The new 2016 BMW M2 comes with impressive performance from the 3.0-liter’s TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder inline engine that pumps out an impressive 370hp and 343 lb-ft of torque. But what does the new engine sound like? From the video produced by XCAR, we can hear how the M2 sounds and it’s impressive as well. Check out the end of the video to hear the sweet M2 exhaust note.
The compact performance car segment will never be the same when the M2 finally hits BMW showrooms. In addition to the coupe’s 343 lb-ft of torque, the sports car also features an overboost function that raises the torque by 26 lb-ft to 369 lb-ft between 1,450 and 4,750 rpm. This will launch the M2 quickly off the line.
When the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six is mated to the optional M Double Clutch Transmission (M DCT) and with the launch control activated, the new BMW M2 sprints from 0-60 mph in a quick 4.2 seconds (4.4 s with the six-speed manual gearbox). The top speed of the all-new BMW M2 is electronically limited to 155 mph.
BMW is launching two new M models this year, the BMW M4 GTS that made its North American debut in LA, and the all-new 2016 BMW M2. The M4 GTS is already sold out, the M2 should also be a hot seller when it hits BMW showrooms starting in spring of 2016.
