Whenever an automaker launches a new generation model, "bugs" must be worked out. The latest models are typically only the most reliable once they've been out for a year or two. I will look for any potential problem areas and report them here.
The 2025 Forester is expected to be more reliable than most new car launches. The reason is the Forester's previous reliability record, but we won't know for another year or two. Read my Forester reliability report here.
As of July 17, CarsDirect says, "Inventory data indicates that the 2024 Subaru Forester is already sold out at most dealerships. While there are 9,400 listings nationally, only 950 are for the 2024 model year."
Check with your local Subaru dealership first to see if any remaining 2024 model-year Foresters are available. If not, they may be able to locate one for you locally or ship one in from a neighboring state.
What are the 2024 Forester deals?

What are the new Forester upgrades?
The improvements are extensive. Here are a few of the new Forester's highlights.
1. All-new 2025 Subaru Forester adds a sleek, stylish exterior with a refined, quieter interior.
Subaru says, "Several functional aerodynamic improvements enhance the Forester's performance and stability. An air outlet at the trailing edge of the front wheel opening allows air to exit from the wheel well more freely, contributing to reduced lift on the front tires and improved driving stability."
2. Subaru's sixth-generation bestselling SUV offers more advanced features and improved ride quality without sacrificing handling or capability.
3. The latest-generation EyeSight Driver Assist safety technology is standard on all trim levels.
Subaru says," The newest version of the EyeSight system operates more smoothly, quickly, and under a greater range of conditions than prior versions."
4. It's the Forester's debut of the foot-activated Hands-Free Power Rear Gate.
5. For the first time, the Subaru Starlink 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system is available for Forester.
What's new under the hood of the 2025 Forester?
All 2025 Forester trim levels come standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine delivering 180 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. That is two less horsepower and two more lb-ft of torque than the 2024 Forester.
Subaru says a Lineartronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) "with smoother and quieter performance" is standard on all Forester models.
