Why BMW needs this compact sedan to compete with the hot Mercedes CLA

BMW will bring a new compact sedan concept to the Auto Guangzhou in China. Will BMW build it to compete with the Mercedes-CLA Class?

It looks like BMW is thinking hard about building a Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class killer. BMW will unveil a new compact sedan concept car in China at the Auto Guangzhou 2015 that could be the CLA’s direct competition. BMW says the new compact sedan concept is for a new generation of consumers. They are taking a page right from Mercedes-Benz who has had great success with the CLA-Class which and has been a global success.

Is BMW thinking about bringing this car to production to compete with the wildly popular Mercedes-CLA compact sedan? They should because the CLA has become the hottest offering in 20 years for the Stuttgart automaker. You can bet that BMW is taking notice and the compact sedan concept they are unveiling in China is their answer to the hot-selling CLA-Class.

Mercedes hit the mark with the CLA-Class especially with younger buyers here in the U.S. who responded in a big way. That’s exactly what Mercedes was hoping for when they designed the new luxury compact CLA. BMW is hoping to capture a new generation with their M division by bringing out the new M2 Coupe. The new BMW compact sedan show car looks like it’s also designed for a new generation of buyers.

It’s being introduced first in China, but you can bet BMW has global aspirations for this sporty new compact sedan. It worked well for the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and BMW wants a piece of that large global millennial market share. Stay tuned.
