Why Subaru Is Waiting So Long To Announce The New Crosstrek Wilderness

The 2022 Subaru Outback and Forester Wilderness sub-brand trim levels have been wildly successful for Subaru of America. When will Subaru offer the Crosstrek Wilderness for customers in North America? Outdoor enthusiasts will have to wait another year for the more rugged 2023 Crosstrek Wilderness trim level, as it will likely be announced in late 2022 or early 2023.

Why is Subaru waiting so long to bring out the new Crosstrek Wilderness? Subaru wants to bring the all-new Wilderness trim level when the third-generation models get a complete remodel in early 2023 to create more excitement for the car and the brand. But first, there are five new car launches for Subaru.

The next big launch for Subaru of America will be the 2023 Subaru Solterra all-electric SUV coming mid-2022. Soon after, the 2023 Subaru Outback, Ascent, and Legacy will get a refresh with new front and rear exterior styling, interior upgrades, and new wheels, and possibly new exterior colors.

The all-new next-generation 2023 Subaru WRX STI will come in the fall of 2022 and be one of the most anticipated new model launches for Subaru Corporation. The high-performance STI will get a new 2.4-liter turbocharged engine, and it’s still unknown how much horsepower the new performance sedan will have.

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek gets a complete remodel

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek and Impreza will get a complete remodel and launch in early 2023. Subaru will announce the Crosstrek Wilderness with the new 2023 base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Hybrid trim level upgrades.

Will the Crosstrek Wilderness get the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine?

It now looks like the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek will not get an FA24 2.4-liter turbocharged engine upgrade. Like the Forester Wilderness, the Crosstrek Wilderness will be powered by the naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter Boxer engine.

What is the price of the Crosstrek Wilderness?

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness will slot between the Sport and Limited trim levels and be priced around $3,000 more than the Sport trim. Look for the Crosstrek Wilderness to be priced just under $30,000.

The all-new Crosstrek Wilderness will have increased ground clearance (9.2-inches), 17-inch black wheels wrapped in Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires, dual-function X-Mode, StarTex upholstery, a 180-degree front monitor, anodized Copper interior, and exterior accents, and Wilderness badging.

Outdoor enthusiasts will have to wait another year for the more rugged 2023 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness trim level, as it will likely be available in the spring of 2023.
