For the First Time, Tesla Officially Introduces a $1,600 Discount on Brand-New Cybertrucks, $2,640 Off on Demo Vehicles

Since starting deliveries back in November 2023, Tesla is, for the first time, offering discounts on brand-new Cybertrucks. These price cuts range between $460 to over $3,000 dollars, depending on the Cybertruck variant.

In a quiet update to the company’s online configurator, Tesla has officially instituted the first discount for brand-new Cybertrucks.

The price cut is around $1,600 for base model Cybertrucks with a tactical gray interior, all-season tires, and core wheels.

However, the discount increases to over $2,000 for higher-spec Cybertrucks, including those with the $2,000 white decore option and the $3,500 all-terrain tires and Cyber Wheels combo.

These discounts apply to brand-new Cybertrucks currently listed for sale on Tesla’s inventory page.

These trucks have never had a previous owner and likely ended up on the inventory page after financing failed or because the buyers declined delivery after Tesla had already built the Cybertrucks.

This is noteworthy because, as I’ve mentioned, it marks the first time Tesla has discounted a brand-new Cybertruck.

In addition to offering new vehicle discounts, Tesla has even steeper deals for “demo” Cybertrucks. These are Cybertrucks put on display in showrooms and used to give test drives to potential buyers.

The price cut on the demo base model Cybertrucks is around $2,630; however, the high-spec variants with the more expensive interior and wheels receive discounts of over $3,000.

Some demo vehicles have as few as 400 miles on the odometer, whereas most have around 1200 miles.

The first person to report on these price cuts is Tesla fan/investor Sawyer Merritt, who writes…

“BREAKING: Tesla has officially introduced inventory discounts for the first time in the US for brand new Cybertrucks.

Tesla is offering up to $1,600 off new non-Foundation Series Cybertrucks, while Demo vehicles get discounts of up to $2,630.

This means that including the $1,000 referral and  $1,600 new inventory discount, you can get a brand new AWD Cybertruck for as low as $77,390.

Feel free to use my referral code to get the $1,000 off.”

As I stated above, Tesla offers even higher Cybertruck discounts for fully spec’d variants than Sawyer lists.

Having said that, it’s still interesting to see even the most ardent Tesla fans promoting this as the first discount on brand-new Cybertrucks.

Another interesting change to Tesla’s Inventory page is the return of several Foundation Series Cybertrucks.

A few days ago, we reported that Tesla had removed all Foundation Series Cybertrucks from the company’s Inventory page.

Since Tesla no longer manufactures new Foundation Series Cybertrucks and, even in 2025, still refuses any Cybertruck trade-ins, we assumed this was the end of the “Limited Edition” Cybertruck, which sold close to 25,000 units.

However, following the recent update, the Foundation Series Cybertrucks appear to be back on Tesla’s inventory page.

This is unexpected; however, one possible explanation is that Tesla was using these Foundation Series Cybertrucks to assist during the Los Angeles fires. A couple of days ago, Elon Musk had announced that Tesla was driving several Cybertrucks with Starlink Wi-Fi terminals that were loaded with food and drinks around the affected areas.

Elon Musk also advised other Cybertruck owners who wanted to join the rescue efforts, saying, “Cybertruck side panels are bulletproof, but the glass is not, so make sure to duck if you see anyone wielding a gun”

Going back to the inventory page, interestingly, Tesla has not discounted these Foundation Series Cybertrucks in any meaningful way. There is one demo Cybertruck with a $460 discount after 434 miles on the odometer and another with a $1,670 price reduction after 1,536 miles on the odometer.

However, unlike the discounted regular Cybertrucks, Tesla has given all Foundation Series Cybertrucks on the inventory page free lifetime supercharger access.

As we mentioned in a previous article, the lifetime supercharger access promotion has angered a lot of early Foundation Series Cybertruck owners who believe Tesla should offer them the same perks.

These owners feel like Tesla is punishing them for buying the Foundation Series Cybrtruck early. They are starting a petition hoping to pressure Tesla to give them the same supercharger access.

Overall, it’s interesting to see Tesla starting to lower Cybertruck prices. In 2019, the EV maker promised a truck with a $39,990 starting price and a 500-mile range.

However, the current Cybertruck starts at $80,000, and the longest-range variant only gets 325 miles.

Given this mismatch between the promise and what was delivered, Tesla will likely have to cut Cybertruck price further in the future if the EV maker hopes to turn any meaningful proportion of the over 1 million reservation holders into buyers.
