Tesla Cybertruck Punches a Hole on the Frame After Running Over a Very Large Pothole – $34,000 & 4 Months to Fix, but Owner Says “This is the Most Amazing Truck Ever”

A Cybertruck punches a hole in its subframe after hitting a very large pothole. The incident cost $34,013 and took close to four months to fix. However, the Cybertruck owner says, “This is still the most amazing truck I've ever had!”

A Cybertruck owner shares that he punched a hole in his truck’s rear subframe after running over a very large pothole.

He adds that following the incident, he needed to get his entire rear frame replaced, and the fix took 4 months and cost $34,000.

Here is what he wrote…

“I finally got my truck back after nearly four months. It got worked over pretty hard, and many more things needed to be replaced than originally expected.

As far as I know, this is the first rear frame replacement on a Cybertruck. I know WhistlinDiesel broke his, but it looked like it was just the hitch, and he said, "Tesla can't fix it." Well, he's full of it, and here is the breakdown of all the parts they changed.

Since the insurance paid for it, I won't comment on how it was driven; it was just that a very large pothole in our washed-out road caused all the dominoes to fall. This is not a commentary on the truck's durability. You would be astounded at how tough and capable this truck is.

The rear suspension mounts broke and then punched through the frame, requiring the full rear frame replacement. Front and rear rack and pinion steering, suspension all the way around, front and rear bumpers, air suspension systems, and bed components, to name a few.

There are 22 pages of parts and labor breakdowns for your perusal.”

Below his post, the Cybertruck owner included several pictures showing all the parts that broke down after the run-in with the large pothole. You can see the rear subframe and suspension components that have snapped in half.

Together with his post, the Cybertruck owner also included a picture of the final bill Tesla provided to the insurance company.

According to the document, the total bill to fix the truck after it ran into a pothole came to an eye-watering $34,013.

Of this total, $21,076 was for replacement parts, $11,140 for labor, totaling 94 hours of work, and $1,796 in taxes.

Just for context, for $34,000, you can buy a brand-new Tesla Model 3 after factoring in the $7,500 tax credit.

Most people would be unhappy if they had to wait four months to get their truck fixed and pay the equivalent of a brand new vehicle after it ran into a pothole; however, this Cybertruck owner says that’s not an issue.

Rather than being frustrated by the long repair time, the owner appears happy to see that the entire rear subframe can be successfully replaced on the Cybertruck.

The owner not only writes, “This is not a commentary on the truck's durability. You would be astounded at how tough and capable this truck is.” but he finishes his post by writing, “This still is the most amazing truck I've ever had!

Well he was right, I AM astounded at how tough and capable the truck is, which seems to be "not at all".

Any vehicle that breaks is frame by driving through a "pot hole" has issues.
Unless it's WAY overloaded or driving erratically it shouldn't break.
And warranty wouldn't cover for abuse.
This just tells us that know the industry that Tesla knows about a weakness in their vehicle and are trying to cover this up.
Tesla is not a automotive manufacturer, it's just a computer company that thinks it can ignor the rules and regulations that all other manufacturers must follow.
I've ridden in these and driven them, I'd never own one.
They say every village has an idiot, when you see a Cybertruck you've just found your villigaes idiot.
The sad thing is, they think they're the smart ones...

The owner is clearly delusional, hoping Musk will become aware of this and get him a job as a lackey in the White House.

I had a friend who loved his Range Rover, but it was always in the shop. Finally, he upgraded to a new Range Rover. I asked him how much he liked it and he went on and on about how well it drove, how comfortable it was, how luxurious it was, and said it was the best SUV he’d ever had.

I said oh so its quality must be much better than the old one. He replied “yeah I guess so. It does leak in the rain and the radio and alarm stops working but other than that it’s been great!”

I can't understand.
"Don't take this obvious durability issue as a comment on it's durability"

I swear, this truck could start a fire in the garage burning some dude's family and home, and these bro's would still sing its praises.

My factory stock truck can drive over boulders and thru deep water holes needing nothing more than a car wash.

The owner sounds delulu if he thinks his truck is the best ever. We all know that the best truck is either the old Toyota Hilux or a ram truck.

Are you sure you don't work for the main stream media? The author says the whole bill came to $34,013 including tax. Then, he decides that he desperately wants to compare that amount to a new Model 3. So he looks up the price of a new Model 3 which is $48,244 with tax (since we are including tax in the number that we are comparing to). Of course that is $14,000 more than the repair bill... that won't do... the narrative must be proven! Let's take off the taxes and not worry about comparing apples and oranges... Now we are down to $42,490. Dang it, $42,490 is still more than $34,013. I know.. lets include the government incentives... that should do it. Nope, that only gets us to $34,900... Ahh, nobody will care about the $887..I'll just say you can buy a brand new Model 3 for $34,000. Nobody will notice.

This guy is delusional if he thinks all of this adds up to "the most amazing truck" 😂😂😂🤦🏾 I wonder if he'd still feel the same way if insurance had denied the claim 🤣

Sheila Best (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 4:38PM

Just shows people's lack of common sense. Hit a pothole, broke off the rear frame, etc, but this is not a discussion of.durability of the truck. People have their heads up Teslas butt and obviously can't see when they are being.hoodwinked!

J (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 4:44PM

This guy is full of it because if the insurance did not pay for it and it was his negligence anyway that caused it because he lives on street and knew the pot hole was their.. these stupid ridiculous insurance claims are why hard working people like you and me are paying higher premiums ....the electric vehicles in general are a death trap waiting to happen just like the 4 teenagers in California last week. Had an accident and the vehicle caught on fire and the fire department could not put it out.. 3 of those died and the 4th is in hospital and may die...when an electric vehicle catches on fire the electronics shut down and that means the doors do not open...and it is a certain death..think of it like this ever heard of a molatov cocktail?? That is basically what your butt is riding over..and when it crashed it creates pressure in the tank that becomes unstable and blows up just like that molatov cocktail when it has a catalyst to ignite it when thrown same as the vehicle going down the road. There is nothing stopping the general outcome..

If that man had to pay out of his pocket to fix that monstrosity, he would not have had all these nice things to say. He would’ve cried like a baby not able to have its bottle.

Alan (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 4:58PM

Sometimes you just can't fix stupid. This "truck "is by far the ugliest thing I've ever seen. Overpriced, overrated, and underdeveloped.

Happy (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 5:02PM

Another delusional cybertruck owner. These people are sheep. They refuse to admit these things are trash. It’s a toy. Not a truck.

I don’t care what car or truck it is, hitting a pothole shouldn’t crack the frame. I thought this thing was supposed to survive the apocalypse?

I drove my mini cooper over a massive unmarked pothole (I measured a 9”drop) at 40 miles an hour. Bottomed out the car, blew out both tires on the right side, cracked a rim. Wanna know what didn’t happen? Cracking the frame. I guess my mini cooper is more “tough and capable” than the cybertrash.

I suppose I can understand the desire to lie to myself and others rather than admit I was played.

Furthermore i absolutely would not have accepted this vehicle back and demanded a new one. Well, personally i wouldn't have bought this junk in the first place but in some alternate universe where I did, I would have demanded a full refund. This thing will forever have problems with all those manual repairs. It’s not like Tesla is known for great servicing. But as they say, a sucker is born everyday.

Bryan (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 5:06PM

Says it’s the most durable and reliable truck ever. Hits a pothole and the truck snaps in half. I don’t think he understands what durable and reliable means…

Peter lallaa (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 5:57PM

I find that funny that the author of this ad says i can't believe how durable the truck is yet he ran over pothole in a truck and cost $34,000 worth of damage. I ran over a curb at 30 mph and bottom a portion of my car and I didn't have no damage to my car.

Rob Jordan (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 6:10PM

I don't know of any Ford, Chevy, or Dodge that broke the frame hitting a pothole. Good luck w that "truck". haha

Winston Taylor (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 6:12PM

This guy is obviously lying. The Cybertruck has no frame! It's an exoskeleton design. So either he is lying or it wasn't a pot hole he ran over and was afraid that his insurance would cancel payment on the repairs if they found out what he did to the truck. Given how he wrote it, I lean toward the later.

Threenorns (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 6:16PM

This guy is clearly delulu. He insists it's the best truck ever because he doesn't want to look like an utter pillock for having wasted so much money.

Tom (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 6:32PM

If people were honest, more would admit interest in the Cybertruck.

However, we have to hate on it because people are either jealous or unreasonably biased against EVs.

Tom (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 7:01PM

Those who call that a truck ,definitely have never had one to actually use for hauling or towing. Usually one does not break, from hitting a pothole😀 or hitches fall off because the tongue weight was heavier than rated.

Remi steele (not verified)    December 6, 2024 - 7:06PM

I dont find any of this surprising. Elon Musk's fan boys will blatently ignore every red-flag in sight while holding their pocket open and smiling.

Its strange, but its certainly not surprising.
