According to Elon Musk, over a million people have reserved a Cybertruck and are waiting patiently in line until it's their turn to purchase the all-electric truck.
Based on Tesla’s projected Cybertruck production ramp, the stainless steel truck is already completely sold out past 2027.
Even more worryingly, the 2027 date assumes an ideal production ramp scenario in which Tesla is able to increase Cybertruck production from the current 75,000 truck annual run rate to 250,000 trucks per year by the end of 2025.
I am getting constant insults when out in public in my Tesla Cybertruck. If it's the exposed stainless steel that triggers people, I'm considering wrapping my Cybertruck. This means the overwhelming majority of Tesla Cybertruck reservation holders will have to wait several years before they get the pleasure of driving their brand-new Cybertruck for the first time.
Well, if you are among the individuals who did not reserve a Cybertruck at the unveiling event back in 2019, as a consolation, today, we have brought your way a chance to vicariously live the brand new Cybertuck unwrapping experience through an ASMR video of a brand new Cybertruck owner doing exactly that.
Before we head over to the video, if you reserved the Cybertruck within the first year but not the first day, you can significantly accelerate your Cybertruck delivery by making simple changes to your Cybertruck order.
Having said that, Elon Musk has already revealed that Tesla will stop selling Foundation Series Cybertrucks next quarter. If you are willing to wait a few months, you can get up to a $27,500 discount by going with the regular Cybertruck variant.
Now, let’s return to the experience of unwrapping a brand-new Cybertruck. Garrett Faulkner recently took delivery of his truck and decided to share with all of us the experience of breaking in a brand new Cybertruck.
Garrett’s video was an ASMR recording. If you are unfamiliar with the term, ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. It describes a tingling, static-like, or goosebumps sensation in response to specific triggering audio or visual stimuli.
ASMR videos have only become popular in the past few years. They usually involve mundane tasks like softly brushing one's hair for hours.
These kinds of videos should be quiet and smooth, with extra focus and sound concentrated on a single task. Given our fast-paced world, people have come to enjoy the excitement-free, soothing sound of ASMR content.
It is almost impossible to capture the true feeling of ASMR content in words, so the video is provided below without further ado.
As you can see and hear, ASMR videos have a calming effect, and this effect is particularly soothing when the vehicle in question is a Cybertruck.
I’m sure it must have been a pleasure for the new Cybertruck owner to remove the plastic and be the first to touch the pristine Cybertruck components.
Given the Cybertruck’s highly fingerprint-prone surfaces, this might be the very last time the new owner will experience his vehicle without a smudge.
Looking at the video, another thing to note is the surprising amount of plastic cover found throughout a new Tesla Cybertruck.
Tesla’s stated goal is “transitioning the world to sustainable energy,” and plastic is famously produced as an oil byproduct. However, interestingly, plastic covering is found throughout the vehicle.
Having said that, hundreds, maybe thousands, of suppliers worldwide build components that go on a Cybertruck, and each has to send their part protected to ensure safety. In this case, it’s unclear what Tesla could do to eliminate plastic from its vehicles.
Returning to the video, personally, the part I enjoyed the most was where the new Cybertruck owner takes the plastic off the rear touch screen; for some reason, that was particularly satisfying.
