Tesla Has Produced the First Batch of Tactical Gray Cybertrucks Intended For Customer Deliveries

A drone flight over Tesla’s Texas Gigafactory reveals that Tesla has started producing the first batch of Cybertrucks with the tactical gray interior option. Here is what’s new with the gray interior option & how it will affect your delivery date.

This March, Tesla launched a few new optional configurations for the Cybertruck: a brand-new Tactical Gray interior and all-season tires with core wheel covers.

Until now, the only Cybertruck options available have been the Foundation Series Cybertruck AWD and tri-motor Cyberbeast. Besides differences in performance, both Cybertruck options are nearly identical in all aspects.

Tesla chose this approach because the EV maker wanted to limit the number of Cybertruck varieties for the initial production ramp.

However, according to Elon Musk, Tesla has already reached a production run rate of 75,000 Cybertrucks per year, with production slated to reach a run rate of 130,000 trucks per year by the end of 2024.

With production ramping up smoothly, Tesla appears comfortable offering prospective Cybertruck buyers more configuration options.

As I mentioned, Tesla unveiled the tactical gray interior option in March. This is in addition to the black-and-white interior that all current Cybertrucks ship with.

The new tactical gray interior gained a lot of interest from prospective buyers, and today, thanks to Tesla Giga Texas drone operator Joe Tegtmeyer, it appears that Cybertrucks with the tactical gray interior, have started to roll down the production line.

Joe spotted four Cybertrucks with the new tactical gray interior parked next to each other at Tesla’s Austin, Texas factory.

How does the tactical gray interior differ from the current black and white interior?

Unlike the black and white interiors of Tesla’s other vehicles, including the Model S, Model 3, Model X, and Model Y, which have white seats, the Cybertruck comes with black seats.

This makes the Cybertruck white interior the most restrained color option in Tesla’s lineup. The white trims are limited to the dashboard and door inserts.

This makes distinguishing the white interior from the new tactical gray option difficult. As you can see from Joe’s drone flyover, although hard to make out, you can see the Cybertrucks in the picture lack any white accents.

Unfortunately, this makes the tactical gray interior not a massive departure from the already almost all-black, black-and-white interior. However, given the interest in all-blacked-out Cybertrucks, this new interior option appears to have gained a lot of interest.

The white interior delete is currently one of the more popular Cybertruck customization options for Cybertruck owners with the means to further personalize their trucks.

For people interested in a completely blacked-out Cybertruck, new owners can now order their Cyertruck with a darker interior straight from the factory.

When will Tesla start delivering Cybertrucks with a tactical gray interior?

A few days ago, we reported on a strategy people with a pending Cybertruck order can use to get their Cybertrucks in days rather than months.

Our advice was based on first-hand accounts of several people with Cybertruck orders who changed their configuration from the tactical gray interior to the black and white interior.

These individuals reported that despite a projected September delivery date, they were assigned a Cybertruck VIN within 10 minutes of changing their configuration from tactical gray to a white interior.

This means even though it is wonderful to see Tesla ramping up Cybertruck production with the tactical gray interior, the option will still likely push your Cybertruck delivery date by several months.

What other Cybertruck options are available?

As I mentioned, Tesla has launched a new wheel and tire combo in addition to the tactical gray interior option.

Currently, Tesla only sells Cybertrucks with 22-inch wheels and 35-inch all-terrain tires. This wheel and tire combo certainly looks beautiful; however, the option also comes with a range penalty.

The range number for the Cybertruck AWD and Cybertbeast goes down by about 20 miles if you opt for the larger wheels and all-terrain tires. The Cybertruck AWD EPA range goes down from 340 miles to 318 miles, and the Cyberbeast goes down from 320 to 301 miles.

However, Tesla now offers a new tire wheel combo, slightly smaller 20-inch tires, and 35-inch all-season tires. This Cybertruck variant's top range numbers are 340 and 320 Miles.

In addition, the new wheel tire combo also comes with redesigned wheel covers. The Cybertruck’s current futuristic center wheel covers have been recalled because they were rubbing against the sidewall of the tires.

However, the new core wheel covers are smaller and do not extend to the tire, meaning they will not have similar issues to the current wheel covers.

Overall, this is all the information we have regarding Cybertruck options. However, we’ll be sure to keep you posted when we have further information about Tesla’s plans.
