Elon Musk Responds To 8/8 Robotaxi Rumors: It Turns Out, Tesla Is Delaying Its 8/8 Robotaxi Reveal Event: Here's For How Long

There was speculation that Tesla was going to delay its 8/8 robotaxi vehicle event, and we now have word from Elon Musk himself that the event will be delayed. Here's how long the delay will be.

Elon Responds To 8/8 Rumors

There was quite a long period of time - many days - before Elon Musk addressed the original news story that Tesla was delaying its robotaxi reveal event, according to people familiar with the matter.

It turns out, that for once, a rumor is true and the event is indeed delayed. Elon Musk responded to a post on X and said that there was still some design to do for the front of the vehicle, and that this work would also give Tesla time to show off some more things when the event happens.

This event seems to have a 50/50 split among people who think Tesla will actually be ready for a robotaxi when the vehicle releases and those who think that Tesla is nowhere near being able to have a robotaxi anywhere.

A robotaxi is the term used for a driverless vehicle - a car that can drive itself without a human interfering. It is the gold standard for autonomous cars and is the goal of Tesla - to have a fleet of driverless cars that can drive you around.

When Will The Robotaxi Reveal Happen?

Now, the main question on the minds of everyone is when the robotaxi event will happen.

Elon didn't say specifically when the event will happen, but I think we can deduce when that will be.

First off, he gave an estimated date already. The team needs to work on the front, and that will allow a few other things to be worked on to show off.

This isn't going to happen in just a few weeks or even a month. We are looking at a 2-month minimum here, and I think it will actually be 3 months from now, on 11/8.

Tesla may be late with most things they promise to deliver on, but they always deliver in the end.

Expect the robotaxi launch event to happen on 11/8/2024. That's my guess, and I'm sticking to it!
