Joe Biden Speech - Mentions Tesla
Historically, Joe Biden hasn't shown much interest or favorability toward Tesla. Largely, this has been because he is more in favor of Unions and has financial ties to them. Therefore, it's been easy for him to say things, such as "You led, Mary, and it matters," in reference to GM leading the EV revolution.
Of course, GM has not led the EV revolution, however, when you have financial backing from the Unions and GM, it's going to incentivize you to say so.
In a rare event, back in February 2022, Joe Biden mentioned Tesla in a speech, "A Future, Made In America," and had the following to say.

Since 2021, companies have announced investments totaling more than $200 billion dollars in domestic manufacturing here in America. From iconic companies, like GM and Ford, building out new electric vehicle production, to Tesla, our nation's largest electric vehicle manufacturer.
To innovative younger companies like Rivian building electric trucks, or Proterra, building electric buses, which I saw at a virtual tour last year when I met with the CEO virtually, and it really impressed me. These companies, joining Intel, bringing microchip manufacturing back to America after decades of decay.
It's great that Joe Biden mentioned Tesla in this speech. However, there is something he did during his speech that shows how he really feels about Tesla and having to mention them.

How Joe Biden Really Feels About Tesla
During this clip of Joe Biden's speech, which was clipped at 42 seconds, something interesting happens at 16 seconds in the video when he mentions Tesla.
Joe Biden's hands rested on the podium during the first 15 seconds of his speech and his face stayed relatively the same, but then, at the 16-second mark when he mentioned Tesla, these things happened:
- His eyes closed and blinked rapidly
- His hands raised up on the podium
There was a clear shift in his non-verbal state of communication the moment he mentioned Tesla.
I don't think this is because he likes or is in favor of Tesla. I think what happened is that he was very uncomfortable mentioning Tesla, and this is because of his financial ties to Unions.
Anytime someone shows a visible change in their non-verbal communication like this, 9 times out of 10, it's because there is some level of discomfort.

Joe Biden was clearly reading from a prompt here, and it's good that he mentioned Tesla. Tesla is the largest EV manufacturer in the U.S.
It will be interesting to see if Tesla is mentioned anymore as the presidential race heats up this year. My guess is that Tesla will not be mentioned by Joe Biden.
