Tesla Sandbagging Production of Cybertruck at Giga Texas

I think Tesla is sandbagging the production capability of the Cybertruck as it was seen today that there are over 80 Cybertrucks ready for delivery outside at Giga Texas. This comes just two days after 40 were seen ready for delivery.

Sandbagging simply means that in this case, Tesla has said that production will be difficult and slow to ramp, but I think Tesla is figuring it out faster than we think and will ramp to 250,000 per year as a run rate before the end of next year.

These first Cybertrucks are early Foundation Series Cybertrucks, which have special engravings and have often been spotted being driven by celebrities like Jay Leno and Alexia Cohanian.

The Cybertruck is truly a unique vehicle. Elon Musk even said recently that the Cybertruck would be able to traverse water, just like a boat would, in a limited way.

He also has stated that the Cybertruck will be the ultimate post apocalyptic vehicle, with the ability to have solar panels and a variety of add-ons that let you camp, cook, and more.

How Much is Tesla Sandbagging?

It will be interesting to see just how much Tesla is sandbagging here as we see more Cybertrucks in the parking lots outside Giga Texas. When you take a previous day and the next day, you can get a rough guess of how many Cybertrucks Tesla is making per day.

Right now, I'd say that Tesla is making about 40 Cybertrucks per day and I think that number is going to get to 100 per day really soon - in the next month. That's already a 36,500 per year run rate.

This is an astonishing rate of production - but keep in mind that the Cybertruck has no paint and in some ways is a simpler vehicle to produce due to its 48-volt architecture and having less wiring and a steering wheel not directly hooked up to the front wheels.

Tesla is a master at production and has gone from prototype to actual production vehicle many times.

Elon Musk has said that prototypes are easy and production is hard, however, with Tesla, I think that production is now easy for them because they've ramped so many new vehicles to volume production.
