The A3's exterior has been given a sportier look with an updated grille, headlights, and taillights. The interior will now have the option of Audi's Virtual Cockpit which replaces the instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch display that shows information relevant to the driver. Audi also added their traffic jam assist system as an option. This system uses adaptive cruise control to allow the vehicle to crawl along in bumper-to-bumper traffic at speeds up to 40 mph.
For Europe, the A3 will have six engines - three gas and three diesel - ranging from 110 to 190 horsepower. Audi will also offer the A3 Sportback e-tron (plug-in hybrid) and g-tron (able to run on Audi's e-gas fuel and natural gas). The high-performance S3 will be returning as well with a 2.0L TFSI producing 310 horsepower.
Audi says the 2017 A3 will go on sale in Europe in May and come in the sportback, sedan, and convertible. No word on when the U.S. will be seeing the updated A3.
