AMG Sport models set themselves apart from the full bore AMG models by using a modified twin-turbo 3.0L V6 producing 362 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Otherwise, AMG Sport models were similar to AMG models with adjustable dampers, new exhaust system, and larger brakes.
Automobile Magazine reports the first model that will signal the change is the 2017 Mercedes-AMG SLC43. Current AMG Sport models - C450 AMG and GLE450 AMG - will get a change in name to Mercedes-AMG C43 and GLE43 in the coming year. We wouldn't be surprised if Mercedes adds additional models in the future.
The move is an interesting one as AMG hasn't offered a six-cylinder performance vehicle since the C32 AMG in the early 2000s. But the move also makes sense. The AMG Sport models boast a fair amount of technology and parts from their higher performance brethren.
Do you think Mercedes-Benz is making the right move?

Yes. Leave the AMG name for the fire-breathing models. Just my opinion.
