I have always been impressed with the GMC Yukon. It always rides smoothly, seats are substantial, plenty of technology and most importantly, I’ve always felt like it would keep you safe in a crash. Now, GMC is giving the 2025 Yukon even higher end models, with more technology. One new feature that is sure to get everyone’s attention is called Night Vision. Both the Denali and the AT4 versions are getting new Ultimate trims. GMC is promising loads of new equipment to match every family’s or executive’s needs.
“Following the all-new GMC Acadia and next-gen GMC Terrain, the addition of the updated 2025 GMC Yukon completes GMC’s reimagined SUV lineup,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice president, Buick and GMC. “We’re raising the bar on what our customers expect from GMC’s flagship and the addition of the AT4 Ultimate trim fuses ruggedness and capability with craftsmanship and refinement.”
2025 GMC Yukon’s Upgrades
The Yukon’s refreshed interior includes a new 16.8 inch-diagonal touchscreen to control the infotainment center. Drivers are able to personalize what they want to see on their screen, whether it is maps, audio, phones, or climate control. Buyers can also opt for an 8-inch climate control touchscreen for the rear seats to help make sure rear passengers are comfortable as well.
Speaking of rear passengers, the 2025 Yukon Denali Ultimate offers 16-way powered heated and ventilated massaging front seats and 2nd row Executive Seating featuring luxury captain’s chairs, which is a first for the GMCs.
New for 2025, a diesel option is available across the board. It is a 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine that delivers 305 horsepower and 495 lb.-ft. of torque.
The Denali Ultimate also features exclusive 24-inch 8-spoke machined wheels with laser etching, luxury is all in the details.
First-ever AT4 Ultimate Trim Introduced
The brand’s flagship nameplate is also adding the first-ever AT4 Ultimate trim, timed to celebrate the fifth anniversary of GMC’s AT4 sub-brand.
If you plan to go off-roading you might want to add the 6.2L V8 engine. The V8 offers 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. As I mentioned earlier, there is now also a diesel available for the first time across the lineup, including on the AT4 and AT4 Ultimate. The 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine gives drivers 305 horsepower and 495 lb.-ft. of torque.
The 2025 GMC Yukon has a New, More Aggressive Appearance
I wrote in April about the importance of the Yukon in GMC’s future. Earlier this year, GMC announced plans to expand its brand into more global markets. The 2025 Yukon will lead the brand’s rollout in Australia, New Zealand and China. GMC will use its flagship vehicle to show the world its power and grace, both on and off-road. Both the Denali and AT4 models are expected to be popular. The Yukon’s new front fascia, updated headlights and redesigned grilles give off a commanding aura. The AT4 trim is GMC’s upgraded off-roading package. After being introduced on the Sierra 1500 five years ago, it quickly became GMC’s most popular package. The new AT4 Ultimate trim package adds even more luxury and performance.
AT4 Ultimate Trim Includes:
- A front skid plate and 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires
- Four-corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension can raise the vehicle up to 2 inches to improve ground clearance when off-road
- Available panoramic sunroof for a more open-air experience
Yukon Offers More Advanced Technology
The 2025 Yukon has a snazzy new feature called Night Vision. Night Vision allows drivers to handle their large SUV more confidently. Thermal object detection helps identify pedestrians and animals, in low-light situations, by alerting drivers on the head-up display and driver information center.
Other new driver-assist tech includes:
- Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking
- Rear Cross Traffic Braking
- Side Bicyclist Alert
- Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking
- Super Cruise is also available
New Trailering Technology
Blind Zone Steering Assist can alert drivers and even provide a brief, firm turn of the steering wheel when a potential crash is detected with a moving vehicle in a side blind zone. Now it extends to the length of the trailer.
Transparent Trailer View uses a tailgate-mounted camera and a customer-installed auxiliary camera available on the rear of a trailer to help virtually see through the trailer.
Trailer Reverse Trajectory adds rearward guidelines to track the path of the trailer when backing up.
Trailer Tire Health enhances the Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System by adding leak detection, tire life monitor and over-speed warning.
Jackknife Alert tracks the position of the compatible trailer in relation to the vehicle to notify the driver if facing a potential jackknife situation.
The 2025 GMC Yukon is expected to be available by the end of 2024. However, GMC isn’t releasing pricing just yet. That should be released closer to when production starts.
