Infiniti unveiled its new flagship luxury sports sedan at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit to an excited audience, promising both a performance and hybrid version.
Volkswagen showed off a new SUV the CrossBlue that could see production in two years, showcasing a plug-in diesel hybrid-electric powertrain, and then said the diesel-hybrid will not be going to market in a classic "show but don't touch" maneuver.
Thanks to John for the heads up on this. The live reveal isn't for another hour or so, but wanted to lock this one down as a follow up to http://www.torquenews.com/1080/official-information-2014-maserati-quattroporte-released
I was able to watch part of their press conference but the live video was bad and I'm waiting for the nonlive video to come up in the NAIAS app (thank you Aaron for letting us know about the app)
I know .. I tried watching the conference online, but the video quality was bad, and in any case I was also trying to write the article on Nissan LEAF prices at the same time. So I shut off the video and wrote the Nissan story instead, assuming that the video would be posted later. I'm also looking at the NAIAS and Via Motors youtube channels, and the video hasn't shown up there either.
I've looked at the other reporting but it's all very sketchy stuff that doesn't give enough details for me to go on and do justice to it.
Given the time in Detroit I'm doubting this will be posted tonight, maybe tomorrow morning.
Nissan to install quick chargers (CHADEMO) at Nissan dealerships.
This was a statement made by Tim Gallagher at the BayLEAF's meeting on Saturday in San Francisco. I see that Brad Berman, who was also at the meeting, and who had a long chat with Tim, has posted something on it on another site. I had been thinking this wasn't news ready for the public, but Brad posted it, soooo...
But why? Is it so customers can stop at the dealership, charge up, then be on their way? Like at a gas station? Makes sense, but I will admit I never thought of that.
I should have talked with Tim about this directly -- but I believe that it's simply to make the QC port more valuable and thereby make the LEAF more valuable than e.g. the Ford Focus Electric which doesn't have QC at all. Nissan didn't want to do this but felt they had to due to the lack of CHADEMO deployments.
In France, Renault is also building a network of fast charging stations to support the ZOE rollout.
