Tutorial for News Submission

This writing is a tutorial for new reporters who join Torque News and will help them to navigate through our news submission tool. Please, follow this order and bookmark the links in your browsers that are market "bookmark."

1st: Login to Torque News
Go to https://www.torquenews.com/user and login using the login and password that your editor has sent you.

2nd: Go To Forum and Claim Your Story
After login, the first thing is to go to the General Discussion Forum at https://www.torquenews.com/forumsgeneral-discussion (please bookmark) and look at the day's discussion (look for today's date). If no one has claimed your topic/angle, please tell our team in one sentence under the day's discussion what you are covering and what position you are taking. What you claim will have the force to reserve the topic only for that day. In this way we will avoid duplicate content. The forum can be accessed publicly, thus, please only use it to claim the topic that you are covering. If you see someone else has claimed your topic and the same angle, please choose another topic. If you start your day early in the morning and don't see "today's" forum topic created, please create one and start the discussion and let the team know what you are covering. The reporter who starts the first in the day, creates the forum topic for the day.

3rd: Torque News Publishing Tool
After claiming your topic in the forum, please go to https://www.torquenews.com/node/add/content-news-article (please bookmark) and start your story. If you go to this link and see "Access Denied," that means you need to log-in. The link will only work if you are logged in. Please, write your story in a Word document or elsewhere. When ready, then submit in the publishing tool here. Fill the title, Teaser (which is 1-2 sentence, getting the reader interested, key-phrase in it and will serve as your 1st paragraph), and the Body section.

4th: Categories
From the categories, select the brand name, from the News categories select Latest Automotive News and if anything else is relevant (let's say Electric Vehicle News, if relevant or Tesla in addition to Automotive News), and choose a name of the car from the Car Model list if your model is listed there.

4th: Image
Please, use at least 2 images in each story (you can do 3-4 if you want to, but at least 2). Important: Each image MUST be precisely 1200x-675 size and less then 100 kb file sizie. Please, always start with a larger image if you need to resize an image. if you start from a smaller image that is smaller than 1200x675 and augment it, the quality will suffer and the image will be blurry. Please, do not submit lower quality images to Torque News. Our reporters first resize a bigger image to precisely 1200x675 size and then use this compressing tool to compress an image. Important: After you download an image from the compressing tool, please rename the file name to something that describes your image.

For the 2nd and 3rd images, please upload using the 2nd image-uploading tool, then A: populate the alternative text and image title boxes, then set the image style option to News from the drop down (appears only with the 2nd and 3rd image options) and then click the area between any paragraphs you want your image to appear (please give extra space) and click Insert.

Image Copyright: You cannot publish any images for which you do not have the written copyright. Publishing copyrighted images for which you don't have written permission is a violation of Torque News publishing rules. You can use images from the automakers' media room, images that are marked for reuse and in the public domain, images you have taken yourself and images for which you have written permissions from the copyright holder (let's say image you saw on social media, contact the owner, ask for written permission and you can use it if the permission is granted).

4th: Subheaders and Relevant Links in Stories

Please, in each story use some bolded subheaders with key phrases in them to make reading your stories easier. Please, also use relevant links from Torque News in your stories (3-5) over some prhases that describe the reference.

5th Author Bio
At the end, copy your author bio with the social media links in it and paste as the last paragraph of your story. It is important for the readers to know who our authors are, their expertise and authority in the field.

6th: Proofread and Save Your Story for Editor's Approval.
After all these steps are completed, please don't do anything else, just SAVE your story for your editor's approval. After a month or so, once you become fully comfortable with the Torque News publishing tool, you will be given a privilege to self-publish your stories and go live instantly.

7th: Conclusion
This tutorial may look a little confusing, but the system is very intuitive. Once you publish three or four stories, you will be fully acquainted with our system. Your Editor is always ready to help if you may have any questions.

Thank you.
