After Bondurant Racing School has relied on Chevrolet products for quite some time, it came as a big surprise when the legendary driving school announced that they would be dropping the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette for the Dodge Viper, Challenger and Charger – including the 707hp Hellcat cars. When you add in the Scat Pack and SRT 392 versions of the Challenger and Charger, along with the TA2.0 and ACR versions of the Viper, the shift to Dodge has brought serious power to Bondurant Racing School.
I was fortunate enough to attend the SRT Experience at Bondurant Racing School last week and prior to hearing from Bob Bondurant, his wife Pat Bondurant and head driving instructor/former LeMans champion Justin Bell, we were shown a cool 5 minute video showing off the highest performance cars at the school.
This morning, I found that the flash drive given to me at the event had that video on it and in searching online, I found that video for all of my Dodge, Hellcat, Challenger, Charger, Viper and general muscle car fans to enjoy…and I bet that you will all enjoy it.
SRT at Bondurant
This video was designed to show off the fact that Bondurant Racing School had switched to the Dodge Challenger, Charger and Viper for their track school cars. They also have Ram ProMaster shuttles and Dodge Durango administrative vehicles, but in getting the Hellcat Charger, the Hellcat Challenger and the newest Viper ACR – the folks at Bondurant wanted to feature all of this performance in the best way possible.
By making a video showing them all smoking their tires and roaring around the 1.6 mile Bondurant Road Course – of course.
The piece starts off with a single Hellcat Challenger with Borla exhaust getting ready to go out onto the track and we get to watch as that 707hp Challenger do a quick burnout on the front straightaway before racing off into the distance. We are then treated by a minute or so of this unknown hot-shoe drifting his way around the track in the Hellcat Challenger.
That Hellcat Challenger is joined by another, similar car which happens to be driven by Pat Bondurant…as we can tell by her signature yellow racing shoes and the huge green ring on her hand. She races out onto the track, giving chase of the first Challenger and sliding around the turns in perfect coordination.
Finally, Bob Bondurant hears the two Hellcat Challengers racing around the nearby track, so he suits up and jumps into the Dodge Viper ACR. Of course, the racing legend driving the most track capable American road car of all time quickly catches and passes the Hellcat Challengers, finishing up the video with a few minutes of intense track action.
Crank up your speakers and enjoy, as this Bondurant Racing School video is like high performance poetry in motion – with the musical accompaniment of over 2,000 Dodge horsepower.
