Subaru just released new information about its newly-developed driver-assist safety technology, and it’s coming first to the new 2025 Outback midsize SUV. Subaru is testing its new next-generation EyeSight X driver assist safety technology, which will be more hands-off for the driver. Are you ready for this?
This fall, the new Subaru EyeSight X is coming to the automaker’s flagship model, the Japanese-specification Outback midsize SUV. It will be the first Subaru model to get the latest features, and they will soon be available for U.S. customers, likely on the all-new 2025 Outback.

Subaru is moving closer to fully autonomous driving.
Subaru says, “During your lunch break, taking your hands off the steering wheel is possible if certain conditions are met. The temporary driving load will be drastically reduced.” Does Subaru mean you can eat while driving? It sure sounds like it.
The Outback will automatically brake and slow down the vehicle if a car cuts in front of you while driving on the highway. The vehicle will slow down and leave a safe distance between the car in front. All this without ever touching the brake. And it will happen if your eyes are not on the road and your hands are not on the steering wheel.

Subaru is assisting with a smooth change of lanes.
The next-generation EyeSight feature can change lanes without the driver ever touching the steering wheel. Subaru says, “When driving on the highway, the driver controls the direction indicators and determines that the system is operational. The Outback controls the steering wheel and assists in changing lanes.”
All the driver has to do is push the turn signal switch down for a right-hand lane change and up for a left turn, and the vehicle does the rest, all hands-free.
Driving at the right speed even when you pass the toll booth.
The new EyeSight X system slows the vehicle to optimal speed as the toll booth approaches. As the car travels safely through the toll gate, the Outback will adjust to the original set speed. All this can be done without your hands on the wheel and your foot off the brake.
