If you are shopping for a 2021 Subaru Forester, you might have to wait for the 2022 model change. Forester leads all nameplates for Subaru of America in sales in the first six months of 2021. And a report from Edmunds reveals the 2021 Forester is Subaru's most researched model, followed by the 2021 Crosstrek and 2021 Outback.
In Edmund's 50 most researched vehicles for May, the 2021 Subaru Forester is number twenty-seven. The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is number twenty-eight, and the 2021 Subaru Outback is number thirty-three in the top fifty. No other Subaru models make the list.
The Forester is not only Subaru of America's best-selling all-wheel-drive vehicle; it's also the hardest-to-find model. Torque News checked a large Subaru retailer near Denver, Colorado, and we found one 2021 Forester for sale. The retailer has dozens ordered, but the recent plant closures have limited the supply of the compact SUV.
Subaru Corporation will shut down the plant in Gunma, Japan, again on July 16 due to the microchip shortage. And Subaru stopped producing the outgoing model as they make the model change from the 2021 model year to the refreshed 2022 models.
What is the price of the 2022 Subaru Forester?
Subaru of America has not announced the 2022 Forester, and if you can find one, the 2021 Forester comes in five trim levels, and the base trim has an MSRP of $25,845, Premium ($28,845), Sport ($30,445), Limited ($32,445), and Touring ($35,945). Pricing includes a $1,050 destination fee.
Why should I consider buying a Subaru Forester?
The Subaru Forester offers many things compact SUV shoppers are looking for; affordability, fuel mileage, top safety scores, generous cargo capacity, a spacious, well-equipped cabin, standard safety features, and user-friendly technology.
So the compact SUV's popularity will continue, and supplies could be tight as the Japanese automaker deals with microchip shortages that could last another year.
When do the 2022 Subaru Forester models arrive?
The retailer launch for the 2022 Subaru Forester should be this summer, but it could be pushed back to early fall, 2021, because of the recently announced plant closure in Gunma, Japan, in July. A new off-road Forester Wilderness trim is expected to be announced and arrive at Subaru showrooms in November 2021.
Subaru of America should reveal the 2022 Forester compact SUV changes soon. When they do, Torque News will publish the announced U.S.-specification upgrades. Before the new model arrives, Edmunds says the compact SUV is the twenty-seventh most researched car in May.
