Here’s the First Subaru WRX STI Type RA NBR Video at Goodwood; It Looks Wicked Fast

Check out the first videos of the new 2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA NBR Special at Goodwood. It looks wicked fast.

Mark Higgins did burnouts and smoked the tires of the new 2018 Subaru WRX STI NBR Special at Goodwood. He also won the Hillclimb shootout in the Prodrive-built STI. He beat the field with a time of 48.25. Anthony Reid came in second at 48.28 and third place was Nick Heidfeld with a time of 48.59 seconds.

The Subaru WRX STI Type RA NBR Special is modified by Prodrive, headquartered in Banbury England and it looks wicked fast. Who is Prodrive? The UK automotive motorsport company is known for its 19 year association with Subaru. When Prodrive partners with Subaru Tecnica International (STI), Subaru’s motorsport division, good things happen.

The most iconic moment in Subaru motorsports history was Colin McRae’s victory on the RAC Rally in 1995 driving a Subaru Impreza, making him Britain’s first World Rally champion and bringing Subaru the first of three consecutive manufacturers' titles. Prodrive brought further WRC titles for Subaru in 2001 (Richard Burns) and in 2003 (Petter Solberg).

Now they’ve teamed up again with Subaru and STI and built another wicked WRX STI Type RA (Record Attempt) model just for demolishing the Nurburgring lap record in a sedan. Mark Higgins, who recently drove a WRX STI down St Moritz’s Olympic Bobsled run, and set the lap record at the Isle of Mann TT in 2016, was behind the wheel at Goodwood. Watch and hear it scream up the Goodwood hillclimb course in the videos below.

Here’s even more shots of the Prodrive-built STI thanks to a video at the Goodwood Festival of Speed Shootout by 19Bozzy92. Enjoy!

Performance fans in the U.S. and Canada will be able to purchase a new 2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA NBR Special Edition production model early next year. The Subaru WRX STI Type RA NBR Special modified by Prodrive looks wicked fast and ready to demolish the Nurburgring record. Stay tuned.
